Kitty got stung in his ear by an ant - suggestions?
Looks like a little bitty cyst, and he's evidently scratched it.

I have zero bucks until next week, and I don't want to wait that long to do something about it. He'll let me work on it if I ask nicely. My question is, is it ok to use alcohol or peroxide to clean the thing after I've lanced it?

Mr Socrates Jones (aka Biggie Fries) thanks you in advance.

1. I've heard NOT peroxide on animals.
But I forget why.
:-(
Got any topical stuff like zinc oxide or polysporin?

3. I think so
I wasn't sure about peroxide, but it wasn't my first choice.

2. just clean it with soap and water
don't lance it unless it looks like it is actually red, pus-filled, and infected. You could just be risking the introduction of bacteria and real infection.

Cats sometimes develop hematomas that turn thick and hard - scar tissue that feels funny but is harmless. They can be fixed if done quickly (which is recommended) but otherwise they don't seem to bother them.

4. I'll try that, thanks
He's pretty laid back, and will let me work on it, but he weighs 25 pounds, so it's very much a 2-person operation, and the s.o. is skittish. :D I'll see what I can do.
