May 18th is 30 years since Mt St Helens blew up...
Anyone anywhere near there at the time, and see the eruption?

I have a jar of Mt St Helens ash, in my "stuff."

1. My dear Archae...
No, I was already living in SoCal then...

How'd you come by the ash?

7. By making an ash of myself.
:D

Seriously, a guy I knew who had been in Yakima had it, and he gave it to me.

4. Some day in the distant future, archaeologists will discover Harry Truman
and the home that he refused to leave. I was nowhere near the eruption, but I remember Harry Truman.

8. I was visiting my Grandparents in Chewelah
which is near Spokane. I lived north of Seattle, so either way I missed seeing it. But it was kinda fun to wake up to the heavy dusting of ash. And yes, I have a jar of it.

That other volcano may be putting a bit of a damper in my summer travel plans. First damned international vacation I've planned for over a decade.
