I do not bash the boomers
So many of my genaration (GenX®) bash them, because we were the first real generation left in their wake

But its a stupid finger-pointing excersize isn't it?

They tried to make a difference when they were young. So did the kids of the 30's. And the 40's. America has always been about changing shit so people areen't as pissed off all the time.

Ever hear of Emma Goldman?

You'd think she was a Berkeley Radical if you read her writing. Point being made: this shit has gone on for a long time.

And the Boomers failed. And so did Emma Goldman. And so did we (GenX®).

We all wept, and did drugs or whatever we did - moved on and just lived.

That's being human.

And some of us kept pushing the envelope. And those folks were awesome at it - unless they were killed.

The problem is Capitalism.

You seem to be able to complain about it, riot about it, sing about it or sing against it...but you sure can't change it.

It seems because a select reverse pyramid of people from the rich to the poor seem to be able to actually benefit from it, you can't change it.

Anyway - Boomers, thanks for teaching us Civics - we love you :)

4. Gen X is not failing.
Gen X is firmly in the drivers seat at the moment. The waves we make are typically small and community-based, but we make them.

Or - if you believe Strauss and Howe - big in the sense that Gen X is the clean-up crew.

6. Well we got one of us in the White House - which is good
And there have been some great GenXers - Naomi Klein comes to mind.

But as hard as we all work, it seems to be going no where fast.

7. Pssst... you're not supposed to say that.
According to some, Obama's a Gen X'er. The horror! The horror!

Anyway, I do hope that, some day, our hard work will pay off.

now get the hell off my lawn

mark

(Actually, I don't have a lawn - we tore all the sod out and replaced it with mulched growing beds and stone walkways. I hate cutting grass.

Here's $5...go get some ice cream.)
