Poll question: Best MTM sitcom?
What was the best MTM sitcom?
Note: if you want to say 'other,' you can't say one of the dramas like Hill Street Blues, Lou Grant or St Elsewhere (we can do a separate poll for that... )

8. "That was a long time ago and I lied."
Andy, when Les reminded him he promised to buy a chopper for traffic and weather reports.

I found it a very handy answer on occasion.

WKRP had the combo -- great characters, great writing.

7. I clicked to see what an MTM show was, then didn't vote because I had no opinion.
Although I might vote for WKRP.

I thought MTM might be something like MSM, some new slang for news or something else, so I clicked.

In case you are curious. :)

5. Very tough choice between MTM Show an WKRP
I love both but had to go with WKRP because I had a crush on Jan Smithers. :loveya:

6. The original Newhart, followed closely by Mary Tyler Moore.
Yes, the WKRP turkey episode was funny, but people love it so much that they wind up giving WKRP credit for being a better series than it actually was. It was a show with one classic episode, two to three really good ones, and the rest so-so or worse. It had some real dogs.

As for the two shows I mention, neither ever had a bad episode, every single one was funny.

10. I agree with your assessment.
I liked WKRP but never thought it was a "great" sitcom.

Bob Newhart is a comedy God. Period. While I really liked 'The Mary Tyler Moore Show' I found Mary to be a tad on the tight arse side but funny nonetheless.

p.s. Gave 'Phyllis' a sympathy vote because that was an underrated show. (great theme song, too) :-)
