it would be a pet store with all your traditional stuff, but the dogs and cats would all rescue animals. Of course that means I would employ a couple full time Vets and groomers to take care of the animals and make it a one-stop place for all the customers.

1. nice!
But are there rescue fish? I know definitely there are rescue birds --- maybe make the bird section bigger? Just MHO :)

Does the cat area have a screened-in area?

2. I dunno, that free range cat room is pretty close to the reptile room. Could be trouble!

3. Nice, but in roughly one week you're going to need 10 more vets.
Why? I don't see an intake and isolation area. Also, it's one thing to have a free range room for the dogs to live in ONCE they all know each other and have accepted you as the alpha. Unlike a doggie daycare or dog park which is neutral territory, in a couple days the dogs in this rescue are going to take this as home, and they WILL establish their own pecking order. That means there will be fights needing at the very least, stitches. Also, if the general public has any sort of access to that dog room to see if they want to adopt somebody, you risk fights every time a stranger opens that door.

We have a free range dog room at our rescue, but any new dog doesn't go in there until we know everything about him/her and do a test run with a couple of our very even tempered dogs. Even to this day, any time someone new comes over (friend, repair/delivery person, etc) the crates come out and every dog is put in one. It's a pain in the ass, but it keeps everyone from getting hurt.

I love the idea of spending your lotto winnings on a place like this. There really should be more folks like you.

4. haha, yeah, I didn't think it'd be COMPLETELY free range
the shelter where I got my cat has essentially a free range cat room, but still, each cat has it's own cage where they are boarded up at night, etc. and there are multiple rooms where they put some of cats who don't play well with others. I figure the same would apply here as well.

5. When you said 'rescue cats', my first reaction was to laugh cause I've never heard that before.
And the image came to mind of a cat who would search for a a few minutes, and then kind of be like, "Look, I don't think we're gonna find this guy. So I'm just going to take a quick 3 hour nap. Wake me up if something happens."

But I guess there could certainly be such a thing.

Cheers.

9. i've seen one, it works
let the cats and kittens run around and play during the day, board them up in cages at night. Establish a schedule, so the alpha cats have their own time to run around by themselves. The DC rescue where I got my cat has their cat room set up this way.

8. I always told myself I would build a HUGE no-kill kitty shelter.
I would also build a doggy shelter too, but someone else is going to have to run that.

My hiv food bank gives out dog food and cat food twice a month. I would start a city wide food bank for pets.Maybe on every other saturday at the petsmart or something.

10. i saw a video of this woman who owns this large property out in the country
and has hundreds of rescue cats roaming free on the property. She's the ultimate crazy cat lady, lol, but she's giving hundreds of cats complete freedom and safety.
