Beagles are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay different than Samoyeds!
Samoyeds are more like Wolves. If you want a wolf, get a Huskie, Malamute or Sammie.

Beagles are 100% DOG. They understand human emotions, they display emotions as such. They love affection but understand our need to be alone (Samoyeds do NOT.)

This is Betty, our family's new member

1. I've always thought that beagles were cute little critters
And Betty is no exception. I'd love to have a dog, but it's not possible where I live right now. I am looking for a new place, though, and I'm going to adopt a dog as soon as I can get out of here.

3. Samoyeds are great dogs, but you're right...
They are very codependent emotionally. They have to be touching you at all times.

10. I think it goes back to the days of the Igloo
When your dog wasn't just a hunting partner, but also a self-heating blanket

12. I think so as well...
Mine had so many habits that I think originated in those days. He loved to dig shallow pits to sleep in - both in the ground and in the snow. I never had a dog that loved being out in the snow as much as he did.

4. Man, I miss my Samoyed
That's making me nostalgic. He's been gone a while now, but damn, what a great dog. Unbelievably cute when they're puppies and with a great blend of grace and enthusiasm when they get older.

Great looking beagle, though :toast:

they might be, I guess -- the American Eskimo dog looks a lot like the Samoyed. I just did an image search for Samoyeds and picked pictures that looked most like my Samoyed :)

On edit: I'm pretty sure the first and third are Samoyed -- the second one might be an American Eskimo or a mix ...

11. Size is the only way I can tell Am. Eskimos and Samoyeds apart.
The puppies look pretty much identical. Kinda like Akita vs. Shiba Inu puppies.

18. I miss my Sammies
They were the sweetest

But when renewing our "Dog Contract" we chose the Beagle

Smaller dog, and, I am learning, definitely a DOG

A Samoyed, Husky or Malamute will run alongside you

A dog, does run behind you, tending to your needs as best as possible

She's about 9 or 10 months old and in love with the world and everyone and everything in it.

5. My sister has sammies...
one sadly passed away a couple of years ago, he was the sweetest rescue you'd ever meet. Wasn't much of a 'talker', he was very loyal but didn't invade your space. A real sweetheart although it was obvious he'd been abused before.

Her other sammie, Abby, she's had since she was a puppy. Cutest little thing, ever! But she stayed hyper for about 3 years when she finally settled down. She only 'talks' to people she knows and trusts (like me, haha!). She follows you everywhere, leans up against you, invades your space constantly. She has settled down nicely, though.

23. Sammies are sweet dog-wolves
I really do mean it when I emphasize their wolf nature

Let me put it this way - you take a dog to a place where cows graze

You figure 'The dog won't try to attack a cow'

But yet our dogs would try to bring it down, like wolves in the wild. We learned quickly not to take the dogs to parks where cows roam.

21. Do you know that Full Sized Dobermans are aggressive dogs because of their smal dog origns?
The natural state for a Doberman is miniature

However, breed up quickly and you get a big dog with small dog aggressiveness
