1. haven't seen the iPad, so I'm not necessarily the best critic
however, I think it depends on how you would use the device.

For me, I'd prefer an iPhone, as I'd like to have something portable, that I can have with me all the time. I like being able to google stuff wherever I am and to be able to read e-books whenever I have a few minutes. The iPad would just be too large and cumbersome for my needs.

I'm typing this on the iPad. The serve different purposes for me. The iPad is a lot easier to read webpages on and I can use both hands to type on it. The iPhone is incredibly handy and does a lot of things, but some pages can be hard to use on that size screen. My iPhone goes everywhere; my iPad - almost everywhere!
