9. I hear that people down South call everything Coke
I had a roommate at this conference that I went to in DC call everything from Sprite to Root Beer... "Coke". What is that?

I've only been in the south for 8 years. MD for the rest and we called it sodapop before the 80s. Soda after. My Virginia relatives called it pop. Maybe they were just pulling your leg.

Because we took a vote, and the kids from the deep south like Texas ALL replied that they called it Coke... it was strange

The only time I ever heard anybody say coke was when they wanted a coca-cola. Maybe the slang has changed.
