9. I hear that people down South call everything Coke
I had a roommate at this conference that I went to in DC call everything from Sprite to Root Beer... "Coke". What is that?

I've only been in the south for 8 years. MD for the rest and we called it sodapop before the 80s. Soda after. My Virginia relatives called it pop.

Maybe they were just pulling your leg.

14. It seems strange
The only time I ever heard anybody say coke was when they wanted a coca-cola. Maybe the slang has changed.
