To sum it up, 12 pound dog shaken and killed by a 150+ mastiff.
Its leading to a small dog vs. big dog fight among the dog park regulars. I've taken my dog to the park a couple of times but since he's basically one of the smaller of the big dogs (60 lbs) he was getting roughed up too much. I hate it because he loves playing with other dogs so we take him to daycare one day a week and arrange play dates with a couple of other dogs who live on our street.
I love the idea of a dog park and hate to see this happen. I feel really badly about the little guy who got killed. I want to punch the owner in the face for putting him in the big dog side. There is a small dog (20 lbs or less) side and a big dog side. I wish there were a medium dog side for my little guy.
What I have seen way too much of is people with small dogs letting them snarl and yip at big dogs like they think it's cute. I hear this all the time, "oh he thinks he's a big dog".
Anyway I was just wondering what other people's experience has been with dog parks.
Once upon a time you had to buy a membership, but they did away with it thinking that people could self-police.
I couldn't let it near other bigger dogs because it was stupid and tried to get itself killed. Both dog owners have a responsibility. The big dog owner should have given a shit about his dog to control it.
And if the owner of the small dog was just sitting there laughing while its yapping at bigger dogs then that person needs a smack upside their head.
