38. Beautiful, Lunatica!
Both pieces.

I wanna hang out with those two be-hatted guys.

Who are they anyway? I can practically hear them cackling at the world.

Your work is exquisite.

13. Thanks
The landscape was too big so I replaced it with this, a watercolor altered by Photoshop.
We probably should be doing this in the Artists forum.........
I like your drawings by the way.........good detail and values. :toast:

23. You might be right, but that would be like preaching to the choir
I love it when people post their art in the lounge. Everyone should be exposed to art all the time. Creativity and talent in the arts are uniquely human. That old divine spark thing.

Edited on Sat Mar-06-10 09:41 PM by lunatica
Our condominiums are at the entrance to the park which is in a little valley just on the other side of the first foothills in Oakland. Then the hills go up again to Skyline.

I enjoy working in clay too, but mostly I draw and paint with acrylics. But I like drawings better. I think they're underrated and should be considered as important as paint or sculpture.

24. i agree with you.
i love to draw, also. my paintings are more drawings (water color crayons) than paintings, but i gave up calling them drawings. i guess color=painting to a lot of people.

20. Yes, I've seen your work before
I think it's amazing what you do with hair and headdresses and how the detail is in everything but the face, yet it all looks complete. That's what I tried to do in the stream drawing. I put all the detail in the water and did a minimum of detail on the land and plants. I was very happy that it worked.

28. Commercial or not you have a distinctive style
Very clean, flat 2 dimensional with an emphasis on the relationship of shapes and space. You treat the edges of the paper in an interesting way. It reminds me of Matisse.

Good Vibrations

Pondlife

The first has gone into a group show that opened this weekend, fingers crossed it sells. Both are fractals made in Apophysis, but "Good Vibrations" was subjected to some Photoshop layering alchemy.

I love your drawings lunatica.

27. What wonderful work
I'm delighted to see more people exploring the medium of Photoshop in a way that would be impossible to render otherwise. And in the newly understood form of fractals. I'm so glad you posted. And good luck with your submission to the show.

40. thanks lunatica
I appreciate your appreciation and good wishes. :)

I have to point out Photoshop doesn't have a lot to do with it, apart from a little post-processing. It's mostly just me and Apophysis. I love this program, rich in tools and with a steep learning curve, especially for the math-impaired, e.g. me. But it's absolutely free and in a constant, fertile state of beta. Aside from the occasional bug it gets better, smarter, more versatile with each release. On a bad day it's maddening, yielding one dead-end after another. On a good day it's a motherlode of possibilities.
