R.I.P. Ares
I loved you well.

If my posts are a bit...off...please understand that I've never had to put a pet to sleep before. Ares was my friend for 17 years.

God bless you, Ares. I love you.

11. The autopsy revealed that half of his brain
was eaten up with tumor. We kept on holding on to the hope that it wasn't so serious, but we were wrong.

I'm sorta lucky right now. I'm already on pain meds because I threw out my back, so I'm slightly "out of it". I don't know how I would be dealing with this totally 100% straight.

maybe the brain being eaten up spared him some physical pain.

Take care of yourself , please be careful with the pain pills.

22. I'm so sorry, Keph...the cross-species bond is a strong one...
And it's so difficult to say goodbye to our special furry friends.

I had a beloved cat that had to be put down several years ago, and I simply came unglued. I know how hard this path is.

Hold the memories of Ares close to your heart -- he'll always be there.

Best to you --

I know how hard it is, having sent our beloved Chester over to the other side in January.

I know it's no consolation, but I still feel him with me all the time. I was really taken aback when one of my friends told me that she called on Chester's spirit to help heal her cat who was very sick, and that the cat got better. It's probably a coincidence, but I loved the story because of how much everyone adored Chester.

May you and Ares be blissfully reunited again.

Polly and I lost both one of our baby kitties and Fat Boy this winter, so we can relate. I know it won't help much, but we also have three brand-new baby mews here and, if you'd like, you can pick one out and take him/her home with you when you come to FUNDAY. Just let us know.
John (and Polly)
It is now 86 days, 13 hours and seven minutes to FUNDAY. See you then.

I love cats and I know how it is...Sorry to hear this, Buddy...

Hey- in a few weeks, you can get another one!!!

I know it's no substitute, but you have to admit getting a new animal is always fun- it's seems to be the cycle- you lose a pet, everyone in the house is upset for a while, and then its brand new puppies or kittens and everything that goes with them...

The cycle continues...

35. My sincere condolences
I well know how those tiny balls of fur can sink their claws right into one's heart. My cats center me and keep me sane when all else fails.

I don't believe it's a random thing that creatures such as cats and dogs are able to bond so easily, quickly, and completely with humans. I feel there's a reason behind the easy way they love us, make us laugh, comfort us, protect us, and most importantly they forgive us our slights and small neglects. A belly full of good food and a scratch behind the ears and it's nothing but purrs and sighs of contentment.

You'll walk with your pets again, my friend. Never doubt it. They're waiting for you. They need a friendly leg to rub against!

43. I do know what you're going through
I lost my best friend when he was an older kitty like your's. It's been 7 years now but I still miss him. It's such a horrendous decision to make but you did all you could for him. This life we all have is so tenuous and no one knows what's waiting for us, be we human, feline, canine, etc.

Please don't let anyone make you feel crazy or weird for your grief. You need to cry as long as you need. It's a HUGE hurt that's going to last. I'll be thinking of you and Ares. I know.

47. It's better to have loved and lost...
Our cat, Gerry, passed away several months ago. DUers were equally kinda and supportive then. While we knew her, she went from being incredibly shy to probably the most affectionate cat I've ever known. I still miss her sometimes.

Gerry (19??-2003)

And this is Georgette. She's right around her 19th birthday (this picture was taken 9-10 years ago), so even though she's generally healthy and spritely now, we don't expect to enjoy her company for too much longer...
