Actually, I thought 'cromulent' was a word that you made up. I was surprised it passed spell check, so I looked it up. My vocabulary has been embiggened today.

It's a perfectly fine word, though I wouldn't use it in formal writing.

14. It is incredible, but I have heard so many educated people use this term,
even on CNN, CSPAN, etc...

One day it will probably end up in Webster's just because it is so commonly abused, just like the unnecessary apostrophe used to designate "more than one" instead of the possessive.

Horrible mistakes like this appear in highly regarded hardcover books now.

Anything goes, so far as grammar is concerned.
