Question about Open Office's "Writer" application
Is there an easy way to make the word-count give you a tally of the number of lines in the document? I've been all through the help file, and I can't seem to find it.

This is what annoys me about Open Office: some of the basic (and really helpful) features of MS Office are simply missing, for no apparent reason. I appreciate the pricetag, of course, but when they were developing it, did someone actually sit down and say "what if we get rid of these handy functions?"

Anyway, your help is appreciated. Thanks!

2. A reasonable suggestion, but not quite
I'm talking about having Writer give me a count of the number of lines in a document. That is, if it's 12 pages and each page has 50 lines, then it should say "600 lines," or something similar, when I call for a word-count. Handy for a bunch of applications.

MS Word has done this easily since at least Office 95, so I can't imagine that it's difficult to implement!

But thank you for the thought!

3. Like this ...
File > Properties > Statistics tab.

Click the Update button, and it will give you a line count.

4. Some features that aren't immediately available can be downloaded as plugins.
I had to do that to get something to work right for MLA papers. I think it was page numbering in the headers and footers, but I can't honestly remember. Still, it was something that was very simple in office and an enormous pain in the ass in open office due to the lack of a simple formatting tool, and it's intention to autocorrect my attempts to fix the format manually.
