4. 6 is the only one that isn't ludicrously ignorant.
Anyone ignorant enough to devote that much real estate to a laundry room that 1-5 and 7 require should be shot in the head Dirty Harry style.

And people wonder why our country is going so far into the shitter.

Not only a waste of space, but they're goddamn ugly.

5. Except for six and seven, all of them look like the washer/dryer
got lost wandering around the over sized house and decided to camp out in the den, bedroom or study until someone shooed them back where they belonged.

Further, except 6&7, where is all the washing stuff stored?

6 is the only one that appears somewhat practical.

10. agreed. Washers and dryers are noisemakers. Why anyone would want
them creating a ruckus in a living space is beyond me. They ideally need to be tucked away where they are largely out of earshot.

Who designs a laundry room, and leaves out the sink?

17. Point taken.
I like the storage space in 6 which I'd expand by taking out that TV and hampers and replace with shelves. Can always put in a sink.

8. useless extras, missing essentials
I do not need a laptop, television, nor a sofa in my laundry room. What I do need is a big utility sink, large enough to handwash delicates and also bathe my dogs and assorted other filthy creatures and objects in.

I also want lots of storage for soaps and different types of dirty clothes.

The home designers who crafted these rooms apparently do not actually interact with anything dirty...

12. In No. 1 I could set up an easel and paint with all that light.
And there should be room for a big flatscreen tv, so it could also double as a guest bedroom

13. Ah, good point!
If guests are encouraged to do their own laundry, the un-expected or -wanted ones might leave sooner.

15. We once built a house that had the master closet, master bath
and laundry room all connected, with the laundry room right off the kitchen. Absolutely the most practical set up I've ever worked with. The only thing I would have added: a small screened utility porch off the laundry room.

37. There's a downside to that....moisture.
And by having a separate laundry room, I could really spread out and sort the dirty clothes.

her laundry rooms might not be very modern, but the machines work fine.

She has two washing machines and two dryers.I would do anything to have that setup in my house!

26. I might have a different style than #1, but I love the components:
Natural light, a place for a sewing machine and supplies and a place for other people to sit and chat. I can only assume there is a radio/TV combo in there somewhere and a big rack for storing clothes after they've been ironed! It's my idea of a family room. If the kids were still around, I'd have a little craft table set up for them! Forget the kids - I'd do my crafts there!

28. When my grandma was a little girl in San Francisco...
...she said a nice Chinese gentleman would let himself into the house through the servants entrance, pick up all the dirty laundry, carry it away, and then bring it back clean, pressed and folded a couple of times a week. He would call she and her sister "Miss" and sometimes he would bring them Chinese sweets and other treats.

I learned this when I was a kid and I asked my grandma what kind of washing machine her family had when she was growing up. In those days upper middle class white people in San Francisco wouldn't dream of having a laundry room in their house.

Our own "laundry room" is a dingy alcove in the garage that depresses the hell out of me. Our 12 year old washing machine is about to die because our aggressive tap water eats metal. For what I spend on prescriptions I could buy a new washing machine every month or two, and for what my wife and I pay for health insurance we could buy a brand new laundry room every year.

29. Overkill, all of them. These are examples of consumerism gone
too far. A laundry room is utilitarian in nature. Does not need so much junk. The colored appliances will be dated in a few years, The particle board(I bet)shelving will sag, The sink in the last one should be a deep, utility sink for the hand washables and to fill a bucket, not just a bathroom sink.

MrScorpio, are you planning to do one of these? The only one I could ever live with would be # 6.

32. Do you keep your ironed clothes and your shoes in the laundry?
This picture goes beyond whatever I envision as a laundry room. To me it looks like a bedroom with a laundry on one wall.

Just my opinion.

33. I think it would be a great idea for seasonal clothing switches.
Right now, I put my winter sweaters, etc. in a big plastic bag and store them under the bed! The same thing would go for shoes and boots, winter and summer purses, etc.

There never, ever seems to be enough closet space. :)

34. We're designing a house to replace the one that burned down in 2007
and I've devoted significant space to a real laundry room in 2436 sq ft. house. I'm including
my stack washer/dryer, a sink, folding space, hang to dry space, and I suppose, if I replace
my sewing machine it will also go there. (I've gotten along without a sewing machine since the fire.)
There will also be a window in the space. The laundry room will be off the hallway that leads to
the master bedroom.

36. Number 2.
I see it as being in a walk-in closet, and as such, it would be great. No more clothes on the floor but straight into the washer! The mop bucket sink can go out in the garage where it belongs. I don't need a "delicates" sink...
