I like to copy and paste. All that crap software that comes with the drive is annoying.

1. Generally, if software comes with anything, I can't use it. I'm strictly alternative
OS (Linux, Plan 9, BSD, Minux, A2, etc.)

4. rsync for backups
I like to keep the backups quick and easy. Rsync reduces the amount of data transmitted by sending only the differences between the source files and the existing files in the destination.

5. I use Time Machine on Mac OS X, but fuck trying to get something like that to work in Windows.
Copy/paste is good for quick backups of directories I use a lot (web sites, finance, writing, etc.). For full/incremental backups I use Backup4All - it saves in ZIP format so IZArc can access the files.

7. Time Machine works pretty well
I never did anything but cut & paste until I became a Mac user.

8. Every once in a while, Time Machine spits up a cryptic failure message.
I haven't seen any evidence that it actually DID fail, but the pop-up window appears from time to time.

9. I haven't seen that one yet, but then again...nothing surprises me any more.

6. Drag and drop
or copy and paste. That's why I hate the ipod, you can't use it like a drive.
