Where's my free giant shrimp, dammit?!
Remember back in January, when Long John Silver's announced it would give everybody free giant shrimp if the Mars Exploration Rovers found evidence of oceans on Mars?

Well, Here you go, LJS!

I want my shrimp!

3. Read the fine print
"Long John Silver's has purchased an insurance policy to cover the anticipated cost of the free Giant Shrimp redemption, should NASA announce the discovery of conclusive evidence of an ocean on Mars between now and February 29, 2004. In the event NASA makes an official announcement that conclusive evidence of an ocean has been discovered on Mars prior to that date, every person in the U.S. will have an opportunity to obtain one free Giant Shrimp at participating Long John Silver's restaurants in the United States. Redemption will take place on Monday, March 15, 2004, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Additional information and offer details will be made available to consumers on the Long John Silver's web site and in press materials, should this event occur.

For purposes of Long John Silver's offer, an ocean is defined as a single body of water, the surface area of which equals or exceeds five million square kilometers. See official rules at www.ljsilvers.com for details. "

4. Offer void on Earth
Sorry, but the fine print says no free giant shrimp. We miss it on two points. First, the ocean had to be discovered by Feb. 29 so we're too late. Second, it had to be an actual ocean, not evidence of a ancient one. So there was never any chance of LJS actually paying off on this. Just free publicity. That makes you an agent of their corporate mind control. :-)

On the other hand, it's still a fantastic discovery, with possibly huge ramifications.

6. No, it didn't have to be a currently existing ocean.
I assume that's what you meant by 'actual' ocean.

10. Betcha if the cashier is a Freepuke, you'd be able to con him/her
out of the giant shrimp.

They'd never bother to read the fine print.

11. Or they'd refuse to give the shrimp on religious grounds
because the Bible says nothing about oceans on Mars, so obviously the pictures are a fake.

Then, when the freep idiot gets fired, he'll go to the courts (after having cried "Tort Reform!" for decades) and claim he was persecuted for his religious convictions, the same convictions held by George Washington, and he's an American, dammit, not an elitist moran who thinks Mars pictures are real because of holding on to an anti-human agenda that just wants to believe so deeply that humans are nothing special and so make up trips to planets, using tax payer money, in order to further their crusade of destroying the American family by offering "evidence" against Genesis.
