The designated hitter rule and artificial turf must go
Why can't pitchers hit?

Why aren't there more day games?

Why is there interleague play?

Why must a family of four take out a loan to go to a game?

I'm just rambling as the season openers near, but every year for the past 30 I can't help but think how ashamed the american league must be of the designated hitter rule.

1. I like the designated hitter rule
because it allows some of the grizzled veterans who are still popular to extend their careers. Astroturf does suck, though.

2. the american league is a p*ssy league
And anyone who roots for a team in that league should be slapped with a tightly rolled wet towel.

:)

3. Bring back the heavy-drinking ballplayers!
...and cocaine in the locker room. Performance-enhancing drugs. Nickel beer night.

4. Artificial turf is nearly gone now
I can only think of Montreal, Toronto and Minnesota that still play on it.

Interleague play sucks. I understand it, but one of the great things about the World Series was that the teams would have never played one another.

5. This is why I love minor league baseball
Because it's baseball the way it use to be before the era of DH and Free Agency

7. Do you have any minor league teams
n your area? Goes a long way toward curing the ills on your list. Plus minor leagues have ---the best---- promotion days, who can beat take your dog to a baseball game! Who can't help but cheer for a player to "hit it here, win a suit"! (Center field fence, Tacoma Rainiers) , and the minors have THE best graphics on their merchandise, which, by the way is way cheaper than the bigs. (I'm sure you knew that)!!!

10. I whole-heartedly agree!!!!
Other things that must go.......

The electronic strikezone that TV likes to use. The playoffs, with the exception of the World Series.

Also, any team that was added post Baby Boom, must go!!!!! I mean, who cares about the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, or the Montreal Expos.

11. I hate interleage play
The World Series has lost its luster to an extent because of it. You don't want the teams to have played before in the regular season!

Prices are outrageous. It just isn't worth it to go anymore. You'll pay $150 for a family of four to go to ballgame (including drinks, snacks, and parking) and it's gotten out of control.

12. IMO the only thing the designated hitter rule has ever done
FOR the game was to prolong Carl Yazstremski's career. Other than that. Ppffffffff.

13. Why were people duped into watching and paying money for baseball
again? Seriously, I stopped watching after the strike. I WANTED to see the replacement players play, because they actually looked like they were having fun...and they appreciated the chance they were being given.

Baseball is not watched in the Grumpy home.

It helps that the Tigers stink.

:hi:

Down with baseball

Up with football!! :7
