The smell of freeper has become more frequent on this
board than it has been in the past two years. I often wonder if other liberals can see this also. Any responses out there?

1. Without knowing which specific posts you speak of it's hard to speculate
But I have to agree with most that are not happy with the way things are with the incumbent dems in Washington. Millions are without work, healthcare and can't marry the person they love and I think people have a right to be pissed if they feel like it and not be negatively labeled for it.

2. I have no argument about what you are speaking about
I'm talking about conservative values...the lack of caring or being aware of those problems that you are posting about and the constant conservative call to cut Medicare, Social Security,Food Stamps, etc. As if all this cutting of human services will solve the problem. It will solve the conservative's problem because they for the most part do not desperately need those services. In watching CNN tonight the constant theme of the Republicans was cutting those very services to solve the national debt. This shows the nature of the conservative beast and a beast it is.

3. It would be nice if those calling for cuts in human services did their homework...
Instead of listening to Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin all the time. Studies are now proving that if it wasn't for unemployment, social security, disability and food stamp benefits that kept steady income flowing into the economy the recession would have been much worse. Also, the tens of thousands of individuals who retired early, left the work force and got on social security at 62 helped keep the unemployment rate getting worse too.

They cut services to keep from taxing the rich.
People can dress up that fact any way they want, but it doesn't change the fact.

some libertarian and conservative refugees wandering over. They bring some *interesting* ideas with them.

8. it's hard to accept for many
but there is a significant presence of paid disruptors here, and also freeper idiots who harbor secret spy fantasies. Many do it for the money. Either way, the effect on GD is quite noticable.
It's part of the landscape now, and will be until the bad guys run out of money.

9. Meh, whatever.
There's nothing worth getting upset about on a discussion forum. When I see someone being disruptive, I just put them on ignore.

certainly has.

17. Yeah...I do get a little disappointed when someone points out a live one...

And by the time I get to it the post has been deleted and the user tombstoned.

But overall it's a term that's over used mostly when someone can't bring a better argument to the table or they cannot prove their point. It's "Duh...you're just a freeper so end of discussion!"

Just like in the '08 primaries. If you didn't support Obama you were labeled a racist and if you didn't support Hillary her side accused you of being sexist. To them (either side) there could be no other reason so you needed to support "their" candidate or else you were undeniably a racist or a chauvinist pig.

18. Yeah, the primaries were rough.
If I was having doubts about something Obama had done or said, I would have to start (or end) the post with a long diatribe about how I REALLY, REALLY like him, and had campaigned for him and donated to him, etc., or else risk bearing the PUMA label.

DU used to be much easier when we were all on one side - against shrub. The country sucked, but DU was a breeze.

I'm still thankful I found DU though - the first five years of bush without it was hell!

:hi:
