4. I haven't seen Dr Zhivago. My mother did, and like it. I don't

know if that's a good recommendation.
I think I might just do a little regular service on my car. If it doesn't rain. Or maybe charge the battery on my motorcycle.
I'm not a big film fan. But I had not seen Zorba the Greek, and when I did ... well. Nice.

...that is the 'Super Bowl'. 5 minutes of game "action", 3.5 hours of mind-numbing hype, spectacle, staged time-outs, Tebow's overgrown fetus, ads up the ass, and a creaky has-been British Invasion band missing half its original line-up.

For what? The sports book mafia in Vegas has already got the fix in. They are not known to be sentimental types.

You're right, Zhivago is pretty much clueless to the point of irritation. But Steiger, the super-literate script, and Julie Christie's lower lip make it all worthwhile.......

14. for years I only caught bits and pieces of the movie on TV so I rented it

and I couldn't stand Zhivago, the character, granted I found Sharif good looking but even Steiger managed to "outlust" him with his acting. I found myself attracted more to Komarovsky.

Now Komarovsky (Steiger) was the only character with life in my opinion and I would have much preferred a movie about him.

15. Proof That Great Villains (Rather Than Heroes) Make For Great Movies.

Oh, and let's also have a shout-out for Alec Guinness (God bless and keep him)as Zhivago's brother and ruthless commie official. That narrated line where he matter-of-factly states that he's killed better men than himself with a small pistol is worth watching the whole movie to experience......

12. I read the book by Boris Pasternak a few times in high school

because i liked it so much back then and saw the movie several times as well but it's been a long, long time. I can't even remember what the story is about now. :crazy:

my late grandfather on my mother's side supposedly looked like Omar Sharif in his youth during the 30's.
