1. Strange, I just played it on my iPhone.
Great song, indeed.

2. I've been to the place they last played many times,

but going to the crash site never interested me at all. Sad day.

4. Have always wanted to make a pilgrimage to the Surf Ballroom
Edited on Wed Feb-03-10 07:55 PM by abq e streeter
and not being facetious; I really would consider it a pilgrimage just like my one visit to Asbury Park and to Sun Studio in Memphis. Thanks for the link. I am insanely jealous that you've been there... Did you happen to go for the 50th anniversary last year? I hear that was amazing.....This year's lineup looks cool too... Leslie Gore, Bill Medley, THE ORLONS !, Frankie Sardo , Tommy Allsup ( who "lost" the coin flip with Ritchie Valens). I'd go to the crash site if I traveled all the way to Clear Lake, just to pay my respects for a moment, but certainly understand not wanting to go there too.

5. No I didn't go. That's one event up there where tickets are hard to get.

I remember when Waylon Jennings played there maybe a year or so before his death. He said coming back there was one of the most difficult things he had to do in his entire life.

3. Yep, sad day....... what might've been...we'll never know
I saw an interview with Peggy Sue Gerron where she wonders if Buddy somehow knew that he didn't have much time, because even in high school "he was always in such a hurry". And not just Buddy, Ritchie Valenzuela was a tremendous talent, and just a kid... And RIP to the Bopper and Roger Peterson...

7. Ain't I lucky, that day is my birthday!
Not a fun thing to have as your birthday, though I am older than the day the music died.
