Has anyone considered the possibilities of the legal e-joint?
There are days when the Lounge looks more like the marijuana.com forums, so this is probably a good place to post this. Besides, I'm already here rather than there. This is a theoretical post...no one should smoke this shit...the following is presented for research purposes only...is this enough of a disclaimer?

I did a search on "e-joint" and found a marijuana.com post on extracting the active ingredients from weed to put in an e-cig cartridge. There's debate over there as to whether this would actually work--the consensus is that it wouldn't; the e-cigarettes don't get hot enough to make THC psychoactive. The other thing they're not looking at is, e-cigarettes are designed to solve all the problems of smoking (secondhand smoke, smoking prohibition and the issues of sucking carbon monoxide and carcinogen-laden smoke into your lungs), and putting real pot in an e-cig doesn't solve the major problem of pot, namely that it makes you fail piss tests. There's got to be a better way.

Ever heard of Spice? It's a "legal herbal smoking blend." They take a mixture of exotic-sounding plant materials--dwarf skullcap, passion flower, hops, catnip, whatever--spray it with a synthetic cannabinoid called JWH-018 dissolved in Everclear, wait till it dries and package it as incense. The websites that sell it all have a disclaimer that the herbs are not intended to be a substitute for any drug, they're not to be smoked, they're only incense, they're not sold as a substitute for marijuana...which, of course, explains why they like the number 420 so much. Here we have an outfit selling "Fiji Spice" and "Pineapple X-Spice" that calls itself "420 Herbal Blends." (Oh, and it gets better...at the top we have "none of our herbs are intended to be a substitute for any medicine or drug" and at the bottom we have "all of our herbal smokes and buds are acceptable alternatives to tobacco" and tobacco, of course, is a drug. So I don't know WHAT the fuck these guys think they're doing--don't smoke this but here's how. Kind of like Vino Sano Grape Bricks during Prohibition--a grape concentrate that was the size of a pound of butter, and sold with a warning on the package: do not dissolve this in a gallon water, put two cups of sugar in it, shake it every day and decant it after three weeks, because if you do you will be in violation of the Volstead Act.

Which leads us to the logical conclusion: If "legal herb" which contains JWH-018 is good because it is fun but it can't be picked up on a pot test, and e-cigarettes are good because they don't fill your lungs with deadly chemicals plus they don't HAVE to taste like a tobacco cigarette--one of the foulest things in the world--would not e-cigarette cartridges filled with a solution containing JWH-018 be REALLY good? Obviously we're not looking at the product for its curative powers, because JWH-018 probably doesn't have any; it would only be a recreational item.

Further, this would have to remain a DIY project, at least in part. You can buy JWH-018 as a "fertilizer"--if you use it for off-label purposes you just went off the reservation, right? And if you were to put JWH-018 into propylene glycol with flavoring and sell it, you could call it "liquid incense" which they DO sell--I think you can even get that at Bed Bath & Beyond to make your house smell nice (although BB&B's brand doesn't have the fun stuff in it). But if you were to put the shit in e-cig cartridges and sell them to people, there would be no question as to what it's for and the Wrath of the Almighty (or, rather, the wrath of the DEA) would fall on you.

But to get started, you will need:

an e-cigarette that offers refillable cartridges; there is a DUer who sells e-cigs and I've found them online at stores selling different-flavored e-juices.

some nicotine-free e-juice. It's made from propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin (2:1 PG/glycerin seems to work best) with some flavoring in it. The e-cigarette fans seem to agree LorAnn flavoring--they sell it at craft stores that have candymaking departments--is best. You can get vegetable glycerin at pharmacies. You can get propylene glycol in feed stores in gallon jugs--a gallon is far more than you need, but cigar smokers would buy your excess.

a bottle of Everclear. Synthetic cannabinoids are soluble in ethanol, so you'll need this as an intermediate. Ethanol seems to be a mutual solvent--both PG and JWH-018 will dissolve in it. Bacardi 151 might work too.

Some JWH-018, and maybe a little CP 47497--another legal synthetic cannabinoid. They use both in Spice. I have NO idea how much to use, but it probably isn't much.
