Spent the weekend in Hermosillo, Sonora
Man, for a sprawled out, mostly modern, desert city it is freaking EASY to get lost on the COMPLETELY illogical main roads. It was easy to get to where the meeting was but EVERY SINGLE attempt to go back to the hotel resulted in "new explorations" no matter who was driving:rofl:

I got lost coming back from Kino Bay about 10 years ago, and now I KNOW it wasn't me.

Weather was beyond fantastic, food (as always in Mexico) was great and I had a nice break from being cold all the damn time.

Best find was figuring out what these weird trees on the way down were. I call them Kleenex trees - they look a little like dead sycamores with tissues caught on the ends of their twigs which are inappropriately large white flowers for a desert tree. Morning Glory Tree, Palo Santo, Palo Muerto, and a number of other common names. Will post a pic when my sister sends me hers, mine didn't come out very good. Bought this to commemorate the find (here decorating the hotel room):

4. palo is stem, stick, or branch actually
but yes muerto is death. Santo in this case kind of just means holy so you can guess the thing is either toxic or fun in some way. Being in that morning glory realm is a good indication there would some kind of chemical effects from ingestion. I'm too old for that kind of experimenting any more, but I did bring a few buds on two stems - wanna try 'em?
