1. Where's the latex?
Maybe I'm not seeing it right.

3. There was one of those wash machine with wringer thingies in a house we rented fifty years ago.
Devilish motorized device: it didn't stop wringing automatically when you started cussing because it cotched your fingers, the way the older handcranked ones did

I was briefly charmed by it, until it ungratefully tried to flatten my hand

Ever since then, I have had a nagging suspicion that the Amish might be right

4. We had the wringer washing machine when I grew up.
Yeah, the old fear of getting you hand caught in the wringer was aggravated by the story of the Little girls hair that got caught Iin the wringer and it scalped her.

5. Old gas motors are cool.
But the gas powered wringer washing machine simply demonstrates how wretched washing clothes by hand is. Imagine using that dangerous monster because it's LESS work than handwashing! I would be moving to a climate and society where clothing was optional. No clean shirt? No worries, don't wear one.

7. My grandma had one, as late as 1980, on the back patio.
It wasn't working then, but it was there. I come by my pack-rattiness honestly.
