Fox sniffs the Conan corpse: "Always interested in late night, looking to bring great talent to FOX"
FOX on Conan O'Brien -- We're Not Saying No...

Posted Jan 8th 2010 5:22PM by TMZ Staff

http://www.tmz.com/2010/01/08/conan-obrien-jay-leno-nbc-fox/

Conan O'Brien may have a late night option if the NBC thing doesn't work out -- TMZ has learned FOX isn't exactly backing away from the idea of bringing him to their network.

As we first reported, NBC is giving Conan the option of taking the midnight spot after Jay Leno, should he so choose.

But a source at FOX -- a logical landing point should Conan become a free agent -- tells TMZ that while they are "always interested in late night" and always "looking to bring great talent to FOX," Conan is still under contract with NBC, so FOX will "just have to see" what happens.

It's not a no.

One possible selling point FOX can make to Conan -- they can offer him an 11:00 PM time slot ... 35 full minutes before Jay or David Letterman take the air.

1. NBC needs to admit the Grand Experiment was a failure.......
and put Leno and Conan back to their original timeslots. When that's done, let Jimmy Fallon and Carson Daly duke it out in a cage-match for the 1:30AM slot (hopefully they'll both lose).

2. I hope he goes.
Conan is too much of a talent to play second fiddle to a hack like Leno. I hope he goes, and is a big success. Hopefully, Leno fucking over Conan will finally kill off Leno's "nice-guy" image and sink the rest of the NBC execs.

3. His show would probably be much better on Fox
They changed it way too much when he moved to 1030.

4. I doubt Conan wants to become a wingnut. Right wing humour not condusive
to being funny. Real humour punches through to the truth and it is hard to be funny if you are a liar or a fool (you are one or the other if you work for faux).

5. Fox isn't the same as FoxNews. MadTV was pretty funny, y'know.
The Simpsons were pretty funny.

7. A station that was owned by right wingers in canada got the Mike Bullard show

from another network. They basically upped the guys salary. Then they rewrote the sort of humour that he did so he had to make fun of the prime minister (who was a liberal) in a mean way. Needless to say the show failed. I wouldn't put it past Faux anything to try and turn a regular talk show into one that attacks their foes.
