2. My mom had a sign in her house that read:
My house was clean last week - sorry you missed it.

I have one that says: Martha doesn't live here.

4. LOL, this made me feel good. My house from my computer desk to my
dining room table is littered with sewing and crocheting paraphernalia because my grand daughters were complaining about not having "baby clothes" at my house. So my daughter and I have been spending our xmas vacation time making Barbie clothes as well as other baby clothes for their bigger babies. My house is a shambles, but it's fun.

9. I can't live in clutter.
I know what my MIL's house is like and it's quite a bit like this:

I'm organized and clean but not ready for Better Homes and Gardens. I'm not that fussy but few minutes each day and my house is always company ready.

13. I don't care for clutter either. That's why my packrat mother gets her own space in my house.
I get the living room, which is off limits for her junk.

12. Words of wisdom from Quentin Crisp.
The flamboyant author of,"The Naked Civil Servant" once said,

"Never dust. After the first few years you can't tell the difference".

a bar of soap and some shampoo on her desk.

It's just not right.

I feel compelled to throw out as much crap as possible before the end of the week so as not to carry it into the New Year.

clean enough to escape notice by the authorities.

30. LOL... though sometimes the opposite is true
There have certainly been times where my messiness reflected the nothingness of my life. But, I do agree that being overly conscious of the way things around you look and not being similarly conscious of the quality of life you and those around you are living is a waste. The warmest and most lively homes I have been in have not been the prettiest or the most well kept.
