Well, all of Oklahoma's now under a state of emergency--it's SNOWPOCALYPSE!!!!!
It's a blizzard, the weather's unbelievable--rain, sleet, snow, and 40+ mph winds from the north. Lots of power outages and more wrecks that can be counted. I'm so glad I have no where to go before Monday!

Merry Christmas, everybody!

4. You know, it's bad enough Oklahoma stole our basketball team
but now they're stealing our words?

“Snowpocalypse” appears to have made its way into the vernacular; ABC News even used the term in a Web headline on Saturday. However, the word might be more familiar to those in the Pacific Northwest. Urban Dictionary suggests the term emerged in Seattle in late 2008 to describe a Dec. 20 blizzard. But the term seems a bit older than that. While we make no claims achieving Safire standards here, our adventure in Google etymology yielded uses of the term in 2007 and even 2006 – both those years apparently referring to northern Washington State storms as well.

8. Yep.
It took be and the hubs both over an hour to get home. I work about 20 miles from home and it would have normally been about 1/2 an hour. It was less scary once I got outta town into our rural area without so many other vehicles around.

I don't want a repeat of the ice storm of Dec. 2007, either. We were without power for over a week.

Stay safe and warm. :hi:

9. oh my lord
It's both good and bad, isn't it? Family memories are made from this kind of thing. And it's wonderful to be cozy at home. But for those who must work -- hospital employees, and so many others -- it's a nightmare.

Be well and safe.

12. I went through a couple of ice storms when we lived in OK
Definitely not fun. I hope you all stay safe.

We now live in Northern California and it rarely snows where we are.

13. What part of OK are you in KatyaR?
If you don't mind me asking.

You're in one of my absolute favorite states.

Hope you fair well through this.

15. It's been a while, but I still love it.
Hiked across the whole state during a cross country walk. People were wonderful and the land was so intriguing. Went across the northern section from the panhandle through all the counties just south of Kansas.

Everyone treated me so well. The history and everything else was so downright interesting and captivating. Was doing everything I could to avoid Texas. I'll always love Oklahoma for the experience I had.

16. The land and history are very interesting, I'll give you that.
And I'm sure some of the people are very nice. But since the whole Bush debacle began, I find it nearly unbearable to live here with even some of the Democrats, let alone the Palin lovers.

Glad you had a good hike through here, tho. :hi:

18. Oh thanks. Yes you have a strong point. Guess I hiked through during the Reagan years.
That would explain a thing or two. But I never really talked politics much with those folks. In the Rockies I did, but not much after that. I knew I was in the bible belt. And I knew what that meant.

Thanks. It was a wonderful hike. Had my longest day of the whole hike (4359 miles) in OK... a 41 miler out near Guymon, Hooker, Fort Morgan, Knowles. Beat me to a pulp and took a week to recover. Luckily, Alabaster Caverns State Park was there for me to rehab.
