He's even pushing this idiocy on his website. How nice of him to attack the people in one of the blue-est of the blue states.

4. So what do you suppose his problem is? (I'm asking nicely.)
Why the hell would he want to target Connecticut instead of states that elected Republican senators?

And why was he too fucking lazy to find out that we CAN'T recall a Senator?

And just targeting the wrong people for it.

6. That seems to explain it, thank you. But he needs to pick his targets better, or
he'll sink into the slough of irrelevance. He's lost me as a fan already, and more are sure to follow if he doesn't learn to think before he bloviates.

now, Redstone.

So much of it that it nearly breaks my heart.

Between the Racist Losers Flag issue and our idiot politicians, I hear lots of this "boycott" stuff. There are lots of us here who don't agree, yet people still want to shit on us because of no other reason than where we live.

33. I know what you mean.
And even after you point out that your state is turning around, it's almost as if they not only don't want to believe it, but don't want to stop because they actually enjoy beating your state down. If something similar happens with their own state, they're instantly in denial and find some way to rag your state even further.

Well now the shoe's on the other foot, Connecticut. Own up to it and do something about it, or they will continue the hate on your state because of one politician. We know this from experience ;)

When I pointed out the times he lied in his documentaries, I got flamed.

And I loved some of the episodes of his TV show.

Like the time he chased Phelps with the "Sodom-mobile!"

13. Whaddyawant? He's soooo impressed by himself and...
never misses a chance to kiss up to his less informed fans.

Yanno... Limbaugh was a funny guy way back when-- very improper, but funny. Then he started to take himself seriously and caused all that trouble. And he's not funny any more.

Now we got Moore on our side following the same route. He used to be a master of the ironic and came up with hilarious ideas and brilliant routines. Now he's becoming a crank.

Money and fame can change ya.

31. I'll give you the second, but not the first.
I don't doubt he works his ass off for what he sees as progressive causes (I may not always agree that he's right, but I don't question that).

But don't forget, this man took money from JEB Bush to speak against Gore in Florida in 2000 just before the election, claiming Gore was a sellout and not a true liberal, then spent all of 04 and 08 opining that the Democrats destroyed Gore because he was too liberal. In his book "Stupid White Men" he even told the story of his Florida speech, but claimed he hadn't really realized until the next morning that JEB was the one who had paid him (even though people at FSU brought up the point before he spoke).

He spins some self-serving yarns, and doesn't care sometimes who he hurts as long as he looks good.

I imagine he's simply venting in a way that mirrors many, many vents/rants/posts one would come across on DU no too uncommonly.

I imagine a lot of people are rather upset with Lieberman these days, and the state he represents allows for an additional target for that frustration.

26. Maybe not, but his "campaign" on his website does count. He wants his acolytes to
try to damage our state's economy because he's got a hair across his ass about one senator.

Why doesn't he attack Republicans instead of the people of a TRUE-blue state?

27. I agree that in effect he's pissing in the wind...
...but to answer your question, I suppose it is because CT had a chance to elect an actual D. instead of a CT for Lieberman candidate. Nevertheless, if the election were today, I have to think Holy Joe would not have an ice cube's chance in hell.

I think it is the sense of betrayal. He's not saying boycott Oklahoma for its batshit-crazy Senators. I guess when our enemies act like assholes, we tend not to take it personally. When our friends do it, it's a stab in the back. I'm not agreeing with Moore's suggestion, but I think I understand the motivation.

30. The truth is in the middle, but when a guy trots to Japan to persuade interest to buy movie tickets,
about a movie that's against capitalism, never mind his anti-piracy whine from 2007 (Sicko), he treats his audience the same way Rush treats his. As walking wallets.

If it makes a buck, but his audiences shouldn't be such sheep either.

And they aren't. They haven't started a revolution like how he demanded (or else he'd stop makin' movies).

http://current.com/items/91072412_moore-if-theres-no-revolution-i-quit.htm

He's just another entertainer. Using low-brow politics to find an audience and pretends to call them his friends to buy his products.

It's called "capitalism".

It's also called "irony", "double-standard", and so on.

35. No, you CAN'T condemn "the insurance company workers." Not, at least,
with any sense of morality whatsoever. They are people who go to work every day to make a living, and why would that mean that they, en masse, voted for Lieberman?

Furthermore, I don't blame ALL the people of ANY state for electing Republicans. Only the ones who voted for those Republicans.

How would you like THAT?
