Three rays of goodness and hope in the last ten years: Reagan, Falwell, and Oral Roberts all died
So the decade hasn't been a total wash.

Plus all the Super Christian "family values" Republican politicians and "ministers" and other bloviators who have been caught in sex scandals, prostitution scandals, gay scandals, gay prostitution scandals, financial scandals, drug scandals, and every other scandal under the sun that they hypocritically cry out against day and night, pretending it's all the liberals doing that crap.

1. I eagerly await the death of Pat Robertson
He was my neighbor in Virginia Beach for most of the 80's - I lived a mile down the road from the CBN complex (now 'Regent University'), and we even voted at the same location for the 1988 Super Tuesday primary: Brandon Junior High (now Brandon Middle School). I was in college at that time, and worked at a furniture warehouse with these fucksticks who were CONVINCED Pat would become president. Of course, they also believed Reagan was the best president the country ever had.

They were every bit as scary, ignorant, hateful, smarmy, idiotic, benighted, stunted, and grotesquely fuckwadded as you can imagine.

I watched him and his outfit closely while I was there. He is a special kind of festering boil on the ass of humanity, and I will gladly dance on his grave with the most utter abandon when that sweet day comes.

20. i lived in VA Beach in the 80's as well when I was stationed
in Norfolk for 4 years while in the navy. I was there for the hurricane that Pat supposedly prayed away. :hi:

21. Yep! G-L-O-R-I-A!
September '85 - I was a freshman at ODU. :toast:

The hurricane was downgraded by the time it hit us, but still packed a wallop. Sucked the lock right out of the big garage door, and sent it OVER the car to land on the garage floor in FRONT of it. I remember my mom and I with our backs braced against the front door trying to keep the wind from blowing it in. Strangely, we never lost power.

So you know the atmosphere of Tidewater VA, circa the Reagan years. Not always the most friendly place for lefties. :D

3. Yeah, those fuckers can't be dead soon enough
And fuck any of the scolds who will inevitably ruin this thread with their sanctimonious "I am so much more of a warm loving human being than you, and would gladly bone Rush or Newt while singing Kumbaya and jacking off to a picture of Gandhi" shit. I say DANCE on their motherfuckin' graves, motherfuckers!

5. Yes, indeed - especially Rush. Bigotry and hate needs to die from this earth.
No difference between Rush and Osama bin Laden or any of those fundamentalist whackjobs.

If we could get Rush and Glenn Beck both dying of heart attacks while having sex with children, so much the better. Though I know FOX and the rightwing spin machine would find some way to turn them into victims and martyrs, even if they did die in a child brothel in the dominican Republic.

28. see, I don't want Rush dead
I want him disgraced. In some spectacular way that his followers can't forgive. Like maybe having sex in public with an underage black male prostitute. Or he turns out to be the ACLU's biggest donor. Something, anything that will make his minions question everything he's ever told them.

Of course the drugs didn't do it, so I'm not sure what would.

Still, I can dream.

31. Ooh, ignore me too, whoever you are!
The only thing I love more than a dead fascist is... well, we don't get to talk about it in the lounge anymore. Suffice it to say that dead fascists are pretty damned high up on my cool-shit-o-meter, so you might as well ignore me now before the next one* buys the farm.

*Glenn Beck, probably on air in the midst of an epic drunken/pilled-up conspiratorial ramble/cry. Betcha.

14. Nice, but we need a more complete list...
Like at the Academy Awards, when they have the montage of actors and such how died during the past year. We need a list of all the major league a-holes who have done us a huge favor by taking the dirt nap.

William F. Buckley
Paul Weyrick (particularly odious motherfucker)

and come on...

really...

how could you forget

17. James Dobson!

He is the most self-righteous curmudgeon of the whole cabal.
His withholding of an endorsement to McCain after he secured the nomination looked like, in hindsight, a manipulative bluff. His endorsement came immediately after Palin was given her VP spot.

I did get satisfaction that his efforts at kingmaking failed decisively.

Nevertheless, I was listening to his show last August with guest Michelle Malkin, and he was working up the fear mongering by talking about Palin's concern with death panels, and how he didn't want to "toot his own horn" but this could effect him personally because he's an old man.

As though a pair of federal G-men were going to drag him out from behind his gated community to undergo euthanasia in order to get old folks off the health care rolls, and he's just as helpless as your poor grandma.
