The "winter of our discontent" (which describes EVERY Winter) has officially started in Chicago.

I just made sure that my car's fluids are topped off and the tires are full of air. The only thing left to do is stock up on salt.

I can deal with the weather around these parts. It's just that TODAY was the day that winter actually occurred. I don't really mind cold temperatures, but the Lake Effect* gets on my nerves.

*Lake Effect - A bunch of freezing rain, nasty winds, sleet, deep snow, ice, etc, that no meteorologist can accurately predict, so they call it "Lake Effect". Kind of like El Niño or La Niña.

I feel for you. Here in SI we are just getting rain, rain and more rain. Flash flood warnings out. I just hope the temperature does not fall and it all freezes. This will probably happen tomorrow night when it gets into the teens. Tomorrow we get the snow and rain that will lead us into the big freeze. I don't mind the snow, but the ice!!!!

Sixty four years ago (from a week from now) I was born at home following a snow/ice storm. I have no sentiment for that weather, just fear and hatred. (says something about my life) ;)
