I have to wonder if what's going on with Tiger has made other PGA wives sit and wonder if their man
has been doing the same thing as he did? That's the only thing that came to mind when I was reading the stories of his conquests. I know the temptation is out there and I have a feeling Tiger's situation is not unique, not in golf and certainly not in pro sports in general.

1. If the temptation is too great, here's a word of advice: DON'T get married and
have kids. It's as simple as that. I'm all for sleeping with however many women and/or men as one wants (with precautions for health reasons, of course). In fact, I love sex. But when you make a commitment to another person and assuming this is not an open marriage, then it's time to stop being 'tempted.'

Sure, I'd like to have sex with Brad Pitt and I'm sure if he was sitting next to me trying to seduce me I'd think about it, but I love and respect my boyfriend too much for that.

We may be tempted, but we are also powerful enough to stop that temptation from becoming a reality. Once one makes the conscious decision to enter into a monogamous relationship with another adult being, then the buck stops there. No excuse. If s/he can't handle it, s/he needs to get out of the relationship.

2. Yes I agree on most of what you're saying.
Don't get married, don't enter a committed relationship if you still have wild oats to sew. Point is though that while some can resist that temptation others cannot. Not excusing what he did at all. I could see if he met one of these women and fell deeply in love with her, but a harem? No, not at all. I know a guy who's son is a hockey referee at the level just below the NHL. He says his son has to fight that temptation everywhere he goes. Thankfully for his son's marriage he loves his wife dearly.

But I love sex too and I'll give you Brad. I'll take Angelina thank you very much. ;-)

4. When will celebrities learn that screwing around on your spouse will get you in hot water
It just baffles the mind when I see famous people get caught with their pants down around their ankles. Do they think somehow they'll get away with cheating on their spouse? I mean sure, some folks do but cheating makes you a walking target for extortion, blackmail and gossip - especially since the press loves nothing more than going overkill on a fallen celebrity.

I just don't understand why these folks feel they can get away with this? If you don't think you're going to be faithful then why marry in the first place?

And those religious nut jobs thinks it's 'teh gays' that are ruining marriage. :eyes:

5. I think the risk is a big part of the thrill.
Especially the more you have to lose. I think at some point they may see themselves as invincible but I believe the risk of getting caught is a huge part of it.

16. Did legalized gay marriage in Iowa cause Tiger Woods' marriage to fail?
Your post made me realize the correlation. Legalized gay marriage in Iowa in April, Woods marriage problems the same year.
I hope RW politicians don't see the correlation, they will have a heyday.
But if more golf marriages fail, then the RW politicians may be able to make the connection.

17. Of course not! It was legalized gay marriage in Mass' fault!
He's been screwing around longer than April, roughlya round the same time Mass enacted gay marriage...pretty clear connection.

19. Also Mass. has the Deutsche Bank tournament
the closest the PGA Tour gets to Iowa is the Quad Cities, across the river in Illinois -- and Tiger's far too self-important to play that one, anyway. :eyes:

6. I'm sure a lot of wives are checking up on their PGA hubbies
right about now but is the golf circuit really a magnet for groupies like basketball and football? All these women he cheated with were from bars, clubs and restaurants. Plus he's the most famous golfer there is and these women saw dollar signs when they met him. Some obscure PGA golfer wouldn't enjoy the same attention from the ladies, methinks.

8. Sure he's the big prize to be had in the PGA.

Would be if someone had shagged Arnie or Jack in their heydays. I think anytime a guy gets into the limelight his celebrity status, no matter how small draws attention from the hangers-on. And an obscure lesser-known golfer on the tour wouldn't have the same level of attention but I bet there's still some. Would make for an interesting book methinks.

11. Methinks you're right
about a book. I wonder if this scandal will cause a divorce boom amongst PGA players? Interesting.

20. Jack, not that I ever heard of but Arnie was quite the cat back in the
day. Of course we didn't have 24-7 news back then and his indiscretions were pretty much kept secret. Arnie was a playah....

7. It is in no way unique
Golf has always kept of lid on the messes. Are their golf groupies? Yes, has been for decades. Do guys on tour go on tour with mistresses? Yes, all the time. Do golf wives worry about it? Yes. Have some guys made an "accommodation" with their wives? Hell yes.

A random sample of millionaires will have a lot of cheaters and some guys don't.

Are golfers as bad as baseball payers? No.

Most golfers are smart - by far the smartest professional athletes. If on tour they make a lot of money. They don't get in as much trouble since they can have people drive them around and other things money gets you.

Payne Stuart used to play stoned a lot in his youth. I saw him smoking dope during a tournament. Has this ever come out? No. Guys bet all the time n the course. There is lots of bad behavior, like there is in every walk of life.

9. As sports, baseball and basketball are not physically debilitating. Combine that with the travel
and downtime and those folks are up to no good.

I'm told there's a lot less of that with ice hockey because you often feel like shit after the game.

12. That is not what I heard
Maybe hockey players don't cheat as much since they are so out of their minds on painkillers.

15. That's part of it. They need 'greenies', etc. to get through a physically brutal season in
a way baseball and basketball players do not.

10. Wow, if I remember correctly Payne was made out to be a choir boy.
But with sex and sports golf must keep a tight lid on it, the Olympics too for that matter.
