What do cats do all day?
Clever idea, put a camera on a cat's collar that takes a picture every 15 minutes, to see what a cat does when we're not watching them.

LOS ANGELES - What do cats do when their owners are away? There was one way to find out — "cat cams."

Fifty house cats were given collar cameras that took a photo every 15 minutes. The results put a digital dent in some human theories about catnapping.

Based on the photos, about 22 percent of the cats' time was spent looking out of windows, 12 percent was used to interact with other family pets and 8 percent was spent climbing on chairs or kitty condos. Just 6 percent of their hours were spent sleeping.

1. My cat spends approximately 70% of his time asking to go in or out
Of the other 30%, 15% is spent yowling for food, 8% is spent yowling for water, 4% is spent barfing, and 3% is spent sleeping.

2. They should come to my house
My old man sleeps way more than half the day. The younger one is zonked out at least 25% of the time. The rest of the time, she's off being annoying or messing up the house.

4. I would love to install a camera
But I bet you they sleep all day. That's pretty much what they do during the day on weekends.

I, for one, welcome our new feline overlords. :loveya: Heck, I've happily been a kitty servant my entire life.

6. now wait a minute. that 22 percent of the time that the cat was looking out the window...
really means 22% of the time the CAMERA was looking out the window.
same with looking at food or looking at anything.
Cats don't always curl up to sleep. Just 'cause they are facing a window doesn't mean the eyes are open.

9. I'd love a cat-cam or 8
2 of my 8 cats spend a good part of the day stalking each other, having yowling face-offs at inconvenient times - like when I'm trying to sleep - and the rest of the time eating, sleeping, asking me which one I love more, etc. I'd appreciate knowing that they actually do some useful things during the day, like killing spiders or something.

10. That is funny
An ex had 4 cats and me with a Lab.

All I know is when we got home from work, Jokers tongue was hanging to the floor, cats everywhere, and the house was always a wreck:)

We were always curious:)

13. 38% defying gravity...
...92% if it's Evie.

6% horking, 8% if it's Quark.

23% sleeping, 72% if it's Socrates.

46% lording it over the entire household from the top of something tall, 87% if it's Neutrino.

55% whining about the sorry food service, 99% if it's Plato.

Since some of these activities can be performed concurrently, numbers will the heck not add up. :P

14. If cats were shown on cat cam to sleep only 6% of the time
then they slept most of the time when cat cam was taken off. I don't believe kitties sleep only 6% of their lives. My cats sleep 2/3 of the time, much of it on me when I'm sleeping.

16. I dispute these results
Our elder feline sleeps all night on the bed, then gets up in the predawn hours, wanders around checking the perimeter, then jumps back on the bed and stares at us till we clear out and turn the bed over to her. Once we get the heck out of her territory, she curls up and inhales her tail till late afternoon at the earliest.

Six percent my ass.
