My oldest cat is now a floppy eared kitty
Last Wednesday all of a sudden his left ear flopped over. I took him to the vet immediately. The vet said there isn't much he could do.
Basically he broke a blood vessel in his ear somehow (probably shaking his head. The blood filled his ear and caused the top to flop over. The vet said the blood will slowly go away, but there wasn't much he could do about his ear.
Nate (the cat) is so gentle, but he lived a rough life before we got him. We have had him for 7 years. Now he looks like an alley cat that lost the fight over the last fishbone.

1. How odd.
Does he seem to be in pain? Poor kitty.

2. a little. But it appears to be decreasing daily
The vet said it is basically a bruise (aural hemotoma). As such the pain and swelling will eventually pretty much go away, but he will be forever flop-eared.
He also said that a pain killer probably wouldn't do him much good.
He is such a gentle old fellow. He looks sad.
But he is slowly returning to his old form. He was wrestling with the young one earlier today.

3. Did it flop over in front?
Like a Scottish fold? Or to the side?
My sympathies. My guess is that he will forget about it once he feels better.
BTW, what is his estimated age?

7. Flops to the side.
He is still skittish that it may get touched or bumped. But he is back to his old head shaking ways.
We estimate he must be early teens. We think he was @6 or 7 when we got him. I believe we just passed 7 years together (things just seem to fly by any more.)

5. Ah, poor kitty...but once the pain goes away he probably won't
notice it or care...cats rebound wonderfully.
