1. I updated the poll and added none of them.

2. I don't like Rush.
Why should Limbaugh be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? ;-)

(I don't like the group Rush, either, just a personal preference.)

3. I think they should kick out the Grateful Dead and Pink Floyd until Rush, ELO and Yes are admitted

4. Yes
And the Moody Blues as well.

The RnR HOF is a joke anyway.

5. The fact that the Moody Blues and Yes are not in the HOF is just stupefying.

6. Of the three, Rush is the only deserving band.
They are the only one of the three that is still relevant and they have the best material by far.

7. I don't care for any of them. BUT
I think they all probably deserve their place in the HOF.

8. There's a good reason why Yes isn't in: Too goddamn many band members
Most of the bands who are overdue for the Hall of Fame are the ones with so many personnel changes that the question of who exactly gets inducted takes over the entire discussion.

Not to mention they cheapened their own legacy by touring with a tribute band singer imitating Jon Anderson on their last tour, and that alone should probably disqualify them. But I would guess that the classic early 70's lineup will eventually be included, and probably the mid 80's lineup that recorded 90125 and Big Generator. Doubtful they would include Trevor Horn or any of the hired guns in the later lineups though.

11. Rush is the same three guys its always been
Geddy Lee, Neil Peart, Alex Lifeson. So thats not an excuse for keeping them out.

12. Well, except for the first album, of course.
I don't know why they're keeping Rush out. Unless they hate Canadians. Neil Young made it in though. Twice, actually (as a solo artist and with Buffalo Springfield. Though oddly enough NOT with Crosby Stills and Nash, who were inducted without him)

22. If they'd gotten rid of two of them and hired a songwriter, they might be more deserving.
maybe a songwriter who didn't sound like an Ayn Rand fanboy in the 10th grade.

24. That disturbs me.
I'm too open-minded to not listen now, but I know past experiences of my teenage years surrounded by conservatives who thought songs about fighting trees was the height of poetic metaphor and "Tom Sawyer" was about getting high will taint my ability to hear them. Plus, that voice just horrifies me beyond reason. No musicality, no singing ability. It's like a new and improved flavor of liver.

And there's also the question of forgiveness: if George W Bush ran again on a platform of piece, would it be enough to convince us to support him?

I'll have to think about that. I can't imagine their basic perception of music and language has changed enough to make them significantly different. It wasn't their execution but their essence that I hated.

13. You mean Neil Diamond isn't in it already?
He made a huge stamp on popular and rock music as a prolific songwriter, after all. His own performances are only a part of his oeuvre. I'm surprised he has not been inducted.

Just my opinion, nothing to do with the inside joshing here.

Neil Pert alone is worth having them in the HOF.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation Announces Nominees for 2010 Induction
The nominations for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum were announced today. The twelve nominees are: ABBA, Darlene Love, Donna Summer, Genesis, Jimmy Cliff, KISS, Laura Nyro, LL Cool J, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Chantels, The Hollies and The Stooges. Ballots will be sent to more than 500 voters, who will select artists to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at the 25th Annual Induction Ceremony on March 15, 2010 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City.

Five of the twelve nominees will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. To be eligible for nomination into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, an act must have released its first single or album at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination. This year’s nominees had to release their first single no later than 1984.

The inductees will be announced in January 2010, and all inductees are ultimately represented in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is clearly nothing of the kind.

28. Well, Laura Nyro's gotta get in!
I voted for ELO, I do love them, but I think Neil Diamond comes before them.

Between Neil Diamond and Laura Nyro, well, I just don't know, except I think Neil Diamond has more fans. Laura Nyro died in the 1990's, though, so I say just get them both in there.

29. Of this year's nominees,Laura really stands out. Wrote a ton of hits for others
and recorded a number of gems she kept for herself. Don't think she ever recorded a top 40 hit of her own. I'd be most surprised to see her get in. Course if enough artists who had hits with her songs have a vote maybe she has a chance.

27. None of them. Collectively, they are the epitome of
suckage.

If they all went on a tour together, it would be Suckapalooza.

Especially if they went with U2.
Then it would be Woodsuck.

I don't like these bands.

30. Seriously, they don't belong due to their lack of respect for the Blues
I think it's Sartwell's Law that states the quality of Rock 'n' Roll is directly proportional to how much the blues influenced said rock 'n' roll.

Those bands have some very talented musicians but they stray too far from the path of the mighty Mississippi Delta.

33. Another year and Joy Division still isn't in
This alone shows that the R&R HOF is a complete and total fraud. If you were signed by Sire Records, you have a chance; if you were on IRS or Factory, forget about it.

Oh, did I mention that the founder of Sire is a member of the Hall board?
