Post your least-favorite holiday verbal cliche used by the MSM here.
You know what I mean. You turn on the local news and one of the anchors is saying to the other, "Jeff, here's a story about a family who has a lot to be thankful for this year--they won the zillion-million-dollar lottery..." Jeff says "Yes, Melissa, it looks as if their Christmas is going to be merrier by about..."

You switch to CNN, and one of the reporters has written his story, which is about the hottest holiday toys, in rhyme, to make it sound like "A Visit From St. Nicholas."

You flip angrily back to the local news. "...And they aren't the only lucky ones. Christmas came early for one local family..."

No, no. You turn on MSNBC. One of the morning newsbots says "Next, a story about a Grinch who stole a town's Christmas display..."

AGGGGH! Back to the local news. The weather guy is on. "Let's take an early look at the late-December forecast and see how hard it might to be for you to get over the river and through the woods to Grandma's house. Well, it looks as if Jack Frost and Old Man Winter are sending us some of the white stuff by then..."

Sheesh. At this rate you'll even take a chance on Fox News. Their news bimbo is saying "Well, 'tis the season for holiday shopping, and..."

You finally snap off the TV and open a book.

Which holiday cliches of the lazy MSM writer do YOU hate the most?

6. This is not so much a cliche, perhaps someone caught up in the moment
but my daughter and I were watching the parades on Thanksgiving morning (we love marching bands!) and they were showing a map of the parade route and the "announcer" got to the part where they were in front of Macy's(?) and he said something like "yes, right there on 34th street where the miracle happened!!" He was so damn excited.

8. "Yes, Virginia." A really charming piece of writing that has been run into the ground by lazy copy
editors and TV producers.
