I am feeling so grumpy right now...
Just need a place to vent; I realize that many would be glad to be in my current position, since I have a job.

One of the projects I'm working on right now has been ridiculous since the beginning. We're building it in a new software system that we were just trained on, it's a very demanding client, the most complicated system design I've ever been asked to build, and they had short timelines to begin with. This is a whole pile of awesomesauce.

I've been working overtime and on weekends and whatnot for the last month or so, trying to meet this deadline. Skipping planned time off, not spending enough time with my kiddo, or my husband. Generally at a pretty frustrated level. Worked my ass off last Wednesday to get work done so that colleagues in the UK could continue work on Thursday/Friday while we were out. Logged into work email tonight to see how tomorrow's going to be... and discover the I've been 'volunteered' to work next weekend, if necessary, to meet this timeline.

I already have plans for next weekend. It's December. There is shit to do, and it involves family and friends and holiday stuff, and not WORK! :banghead:

Thanks for listening.

1. My dear LynzM...
I'd be pissed off too...

How dare they pencil you in?

I'd inform them that you were not consulted, and you already have plans. And those plans don't include WORK.

Good grief.

Hang in there!

3. Thanks, Peg.
Part of the problem is that I *used to* enjoy the "superhero" role, and once you've labeled yourself as such... it's assumed.

2. Wow, that sucks! I'd be pissed off too, especially at somebody
"penciling me in" to work on a weekend, especially when I already have plans.

I agree with Peggy. I'd tell them you were NOT consulted, and you already have plans.

I know clients are important, but good freakin' grief, their shit really ISN'T the most important thing in the entire universe!

4. Thanks, SG.
If it were my direct boss, and she asked me, I would gladly do it. I'm more annoyed that I was cc'd on an email that informs me of said decision (email was not from my boss) without either a) talking to me about it or b) at least sending me a separate email to let me know / apologize / whatever.

At least next Monday, I should be in the clear on this particular one.

5. UGH! That sucks!
Corporate fucks treat us like things to be used and not human beings. :(

6. It's pretty lame.
It's a weird situation in that the person who I'm frustrated with is just trying to protect the whole team (and company)'s reputation... she's not some faceless person, she's a friend, and she's working harder than I am. I'm just so frustrated with unreasonable promises. Proving that you have a team of superheroes backfires hardcore later. :(

Hang in there.

I hope things slow down for you soon. Try to keep your sanity and stop checking work email while you are off!

8. Awww...
Hi hippywife :) Always an upper to see you around!

Love your emoticons, hehe.

It probably would be better for me not to check it, but I kind of wanted to know what the lion's den looked like before I walked in tomorrow, yk? Forewarned is forearmed, etc., or something like that.

 and :loveya: back!
