My car got recalled
2008 Toyota Prius. Something about the floor mats getting tangled with the gas pedal?? /shrug I dont have any floor mats. Should I even bother calling anyone?

1. That's Toyota's bullshit excuse for a defective gas pedal system.
Yes, take it in. They'll actually fix the problem whether you have floor mats or not. They've got one of the most disgusting PR departments in the industry.

5. The floor mat thing is a "Nothing to see here. Move along" excuse.
I don't know why they can't just admit they fucked up! Their so called "pickup truck" vehicles have tragic frame rust and several have dropped their spare tires on the highway - at speed. They issued a recall for that too, but I guess they couldn't blame it on floor mats.

2. My 2008 Prius has toggle locks on the floor mats.
Keeps them from shifting/sliding.

something like 40 people have died when the floor mats caught and depressed the accelerator and the car sped out of control. Although for the life of me, I don't know why they didn't just put it in neutral and turn off the key...

As for the recall, there might be something else they want to fix they aren't talking about. Take the time to stop by

Need to do a OBD-II update and modify your gas pedal. (even if you don't have floormats)
