that's now SIX games ND loses that they should have won. Weiss apparently has no idea how to actually run a DEFENSE. FIRE HIM NOW.

1. Apparently you haven't seen Stanford play this year
Can't blame the defense as no defense could stop Andrew Luck or Gerhart this year. Notre Dame played well and I'd hate that this game is used as a reason because Stanford has a very talented QB and RB.

This is not a game Notre Dame 'should' have won but it was a game where if they played really well on top of their game maybe they could win. I think Stanford is probably the best team Notre Dame faced this year.

2. I say they should have won because they led most of the game
Yes, Stanford is a very good team, but ND had that game for the first 50 minutes. Then the defense absolutely crumbled, as has happened all season.

4. I understand that

My Devils who happened that have the #1 defense in the Pac 10 based on yardage allowed and points could only hold Stanford to 34 points and Gerhart to 111 yards however there was nothing and I mean nothing they could do stop Andrew Luck.

However my Devils had a bad season because of poor offensive production. Only scored 20 points or more in 3 out of 9 Pac 10 games and two of those were wins.

However rest of the season I concede Notre Dame's defense has been soft but I really wouldn't expect them to hold Stanford's offense.

Let me point out besides Andrew Luck's production Gerhart leads the NATION in rushing yards and touchdowns.

5. Firing him means you eat his remaining contract and give someone else an equally large one
Who's to say the new guy will be much better?

Notre Dame's problem is that they've lost a lot of their mystique so they don't have as many recruiting advantages.

Once upon a time kids went to Notre Dame so they could be on TV all the time.

Now they can do that anywhere.
