I got very drunk last night & still feel like shit... Why?
I even puked when I got home, so I threw up a lot of what I drank at the end.

Should I go back out drinking tonight, to help with the hangover?

1. You still feel like shit because you are dehydrated.
Stay home, and get some water and other non-toxic fluids into you...

I would eat lightly if I were you...

And next time, don't get drunk!

3. Does non-toxic include beer or Jack Daniel shots?

5. Nope.
You need non-alcoholic things to drink.

The alcohol is the thing that's making you sick. It is very drying to your body, and this drying is what causes the hangover...

Water, tea, juice, milk...these are what you need...

7. You are resisting the message...
Alcohol is NOT good for you...

Now, light beer is still alcohol.

Maybe it's less alcoholic than other drinks, but it's still alcohol.

I think you may be alcoholic, as in it has you under its control.

Think about going to AA before drinking wrecks your life...

I've seen this too many times.

Sorry to be so rough, but I hate to see people waste their lives this way...

10. Um... This was the first night that I went out drinking in 2 years.
I never drink at home or when I go out to dinner either.

I think the last 2 shots of Jack Daniels caused the bad hangover... Alcohol tolerance wasn't built up.

Besides, if I go out again, I might realize again that drinking or getting drunk really sucks and accomplishes nothing. And I might end up with a one night stand... Okay, that's another problem in the morning to deal with. Forget about the one night stand thing, and let's focus on what I could learn from going out again tonight. Okay?

12. OK...
I was being harsh, and I apologize.

I didn't know your history...

I really doubt alcohol tolerance exists, but maybe it does.

Just take it easy, OK?

19. oh, Peggy......you're completely correct
Some of us just have to learn the hard way

But drink lots of water you guys! And take a couple of aspirin at night before sleep; that also opens up the veins to the brains

2. Two answers
First one from a responsible person who doesn't drink to the point of intoxication on a regular basis: Fuck No!

Second, from a friend who was probably there with you last night and likes to get their drink on: Why the fuck not?

4. Thanks for reminding why I don't drink any more
The sickness and being intoxicated isn't that fun.

To answer your question I used to spend another night drinking after a hangover and it goes a way while I am drunk but I end up hungover the next day. You really need to spend a day sober so you can feel better the day after.

9. Sounds like you still got it in your system.
Need to clean the shit out of your liver. If you have a store nearby that sells herbal supplements, get something with milk thistle in it. If you don't, get some energy drinks that have it. I know "Rockstar" does, but read the labels on some other brands first, because "Rockstar" is owned by Michael Weiner Savage and his son. But the stuff does work (actually it's how they marketed that particular drink in the first place, hence the name - you could party "like a rockstar" and recover quickly by speeding up the liver detoxification.)

EAT SOMETHING before you start drinking!! (i like carbs, myself). you'll still get a buzz, but not as sick. best lesson i ever learned. drinking on an empty stomach (especially drinking quickly), will mess you up.

btw, why would you want to drink some more when you feel so bad? most people don't even want to look at an alcoholic beverage after going on a bender such as you described!

15. you're dehydrated and possibly have mild alcohol poisoning
I have learned my lessons (mostly):

1 - always drink water both while drinking and at the end of the night. In other words, every now and then when you're out of booze/beer/wine, go to the bar and get a water. You'll thank yourself if you do.

2 - make sure you eat before you drink, and sometimes it helps at the end of the night if you forget rule #3

3 - learn to recognize when you are starting to get drunk and either slow down or stop. Drinking, like eating or other things, generally doesn't affect you immediately. If you eat til you're full, you feel uncomfortably stuffed 20 minutes later. If you drink til you're wasted (or past that! lol) then you're fighting a losing battle cause you're just gonna get drunker. And probably puke.

4 - I forget #4. Fuck it.

17. Water, dude, water
Beer is a diuretic - you can die of dehydration drinkin' beer. For that matter, all alcahol sets your kidneys to "drain" rather than "filter" (vasopressin inhibitor). Caffeine and sugar also contribute to dehydration for various reasons.

If you drink reasonably good liquor (Jack Black is kind of the dividing line....), and drink a lot of water,(like a 12 oz tumbler per drink) your hangover will not be nearly as bad. Craft brewed beer seems to do a lot less damage than the cheap stuff, as well.

Avoid anything with a lot of sugar ("candy" brandies, Yukon Jack, the Doctor, Jaeger, SoCo...) and any wine/cooler/cider with sulfites.
(see www.bumwine.com for details on the worst of the worst)

20. I say, to Hell with it -- Have Bloody Mary!
I see a lot of good advice about what to do "Next Time." It is true a drink will help a hangover, and if you don't do this on a regular basis, I doubt a little "Hair of the Dog" will send you down the road to alcoholic damnation.

But, yeah, if you have problems when you drink . . . you might want to make a note of it. But save that for "Next Time."
