PETA fucks with Thanksgiving
Sadly, there are no nude supermodels in this video, just a cute kid ruining Thanksgiving for the rest of us.

20. They're so irrelevant...
That they make you post outrageous claims on the internet.

All it takes for me to do that is for it to be Tuesday.

2. That video made me want to kill a turkey with my bare hands.
Drink it's hot, hot blood and then cook it into a the mix of tofu burgers. Then go to a PETA meeting and after they work up a new plans for ineffectual and self-defeating ad campaign, after that I would them my plate of delicious "tofu" burgers. Then after the snacking and comments of "Hey, the tofu actually tasted like something today." I reveal my sinister plan and how their ad inspired me to do it.

Oh, that would be a great Thanksgiving Charlie Brown.

3. A turkey would stomp your ass in a heartbeat, given half a chance
We should listen to Ben Franklin and eat bald eagles on Thanksgiving.

7. A turkey once hated my friend's car so much
it would chase it whenever she visited her in-laws farm where it lived & attack anyone who got out of it. She hated that turkey so much, but because he was her mother-in-law's pet, he never got asked to Thanksgiving Dinner.

4. Haha.
Love it!!

Nothing is more offensive than the neatly-packaged cellophane-wrapped Styrofoam-tray of animal flesh; so neat, clean, and intellectually-disconnected from the realities of meat production.

It's nasty, gross work. It's the single leading cause of global warming and global pollution. It's frequently performed in the most-cheap-and-effective manner possible (for agri-big-business), a fact that isn't pleasant for either the animal or for you as the end consumer. (If you eat fast-food or "value" ground meat, you're getting close to the FDA allowance of animal poo. It's cheaper for processors to work to reduce the level to allowable than it is to avoid contamination in the first place. What little protection was there for the consumer was removed by the Boy King as anti-business.)

Bless the "intellectual-bomb" thrower...my favorite question growing up was "What part of the animal did that come from?" There's no good way to answer that question; I discovered the Socratic method at age-8 quite by accident. Nobody wanted to answer the questions "Why is it wrong to pull the cat's tail but okay to kill bugs?" or "Don't cows have feelings too?" You just couldn't get mad at a cherubic-faced blonde blue-eyed innocent 8-year old Chan790 who was curious and asked lots of questions. Probing ethical questions with no good answers.

Truth makes people so squeamish!

This makes me proud to belong to PETA.

8. Turkey dinners fail to make me squeamish.
Did enough Ag work to know how it's done.

You can rattle the people who sit in front of TV's and think food comes from the grocery store, but that's about it.

9. Actually, I found people in Iowa much more supportive of my veg*nism
than here in the suburbs. In Iowa, people knew how evil the factory farms and meat industry are. People don't like being told they have no right to make zoning decisions in their own communities, or having fishkills in their fishing streams caused by broken CAFO lagoons, or the smell of the stuff going into those lagoons. I didn't know many veg*ns in Iowa (but some), but the meat eaters there were respectful and supportive of my decision. Cuz they know how it's done, too.

13. Veggie harvesting isn't exactly cruelty free either
But then...those are just mostly Mexicans. So who cares...right?

LYRICS
The crops are all in and the peaches are rotting,
The oranges piled in their creosote dumps;
They're flying 'em back to the Mexican border
To pay all their money to wade back again

Goodbye to my Juan, goodbye, Rosalita,
Adios mis amigos, Jesus y Maria;
You won't have your names when you ride the big airplane,
All they will call you will be "deportees"

My father's own father, he waded that river,
They took all the money he made in his life;
My brothers and sisters come working the fruit trees,
And they rode the truck till they took down and died.

Some of us are illegal, and some are not wanted,
Our work contract's out and we have to move on;
Six hundred miles to that Mexican border,
They chase us like outlaws, like rustlers, like thieves.

We died in your hills, we died in your deserts,
We died in your valleys and died on your plains.
We died 'neath your trees and we died in your bushes,
Both sides of the river, we died just the same.

The sky plane caught fire over Los Gatos Canyon,
A fireball of lightning, and shook all our hills,
Who are all these friends, all scattered like dry leaves?
The radio says, "They are just deportees"

Is this the best way we can grow our big orchards?
Is this the best way we can grow our good fruit?
To fall like dry leaves to rot on my topsoil
And be called by no name except "deportees"?

15. The meat industry is completely dependent on undocumented workers.
I love how little meat eaters know about how that dead cow makes it to your plate. I remember the time a worker fell into a carving machine at a slaughterhouse in Des Moines. The poor man, who had a Spanish name of course, was killed, and the USDA closed the plant for an investigation. A TV reporter interviewed the plant manager, who demonstrated not a whit of sorrow over the man's death. He was just royally PISSED OFF that he was losing money while the plant was closed. Cuz, ya know, that dead guy was just a Mexican who killed cows for a living.

So you can have meat.

18. As is the Agriculture of most fruits and veggies.
As is the manufacture of most clothing and sporting items...whoops that's actually child labor in many cases now.

And of course, the harvesting of coal, which turns on most of our lights, is increasing more appalling in both human and environmental cost.

To me, PETA's attempts to shame the rest of us; when they benefit just as much from living in this parasitic culture, as we unapologetic flesh-renderers, gets no more than an eyeroll.

19. Okay!
Since I buy my fruits and veggies locally from local growers and coops and know most of the young people who picked them...

Since I know where my clothing comes from and never buy sporting goods...

Since I get my electricity from a green energy co-op...

Since I only use public transit and have never had a driver's licence...

then my attempts to shame you must be totally-valid. :woohoo:

26. Hey, me too!
Fruits and veggies from local farmers. I buy all clothing but socks and underwear secondhand. My socks and undies are American made. No leather, wool or silk. Also, household goods secondhand whenever possible, so as to avoid supporting poor labor practices in China and elsewhere. PETA affinity wireless program for my cell phone. Walk whenever possible, otherwise, an American-made Ford Focus with great mileage. Vegan whenever possible. Vegetarian when not.

And all for the purpose of shaming others!

25. Right, Einstein. That was my point. Meat eaters can hardly claim the moral high ground
when it comes to the employment of undocumented workers. Who do you think is running those factory farms and slaughterhouses? I doubt you'd be willing to work in one. Well, someone has to produce your cheap meat.

23. I'm sorry..but what? Crap like that almost makes me enjoy my meat even more.
It's a steaming load of self-important nonsense. Makes me want to nosh on some red meat in front of a PETA member with my mouth open.

The only people that think this crap is effective are those already in the choir.

I'm eating extra meat this weekend because of this stupid video featuring a spoiled suburban brat.

Gud luk with that. :hi:

Maybe next week you can keep raindrops from falling or the sun from setting.

Or maybe you can stop a housecat from stalking a lizard or a lion from ripping the throat out of a beautiful antelope.

And even if you did all that?

I'm still eating meat.

It tastes gud.

30. I don't necessarily agree with PETA entirely
But I respect them because they are effective activists and the cause is one which I see as honorably though I don't myself live up to it. Every time you bitch and moan about PETA you kick this thread which keeps this thread in the public eye. It doesn't matter if the message doesn't appeal to everybody and in fact makes some people extremely pissed. As long as the message stays out there, it gets to the right people for their campaign. So like I said, if you are angry and vocal about it then you are doing their work for them. If you want them to diminish and go away, then don't pay any attention to them and don't comment on them. That is how propaganda works.

b) Flightless birds are evil critters of hate
Bsub1) "stomp on their little turkey heads" is an awesome line for this commercial
c) NBC should really have run that commercial, as long as PETA paid like any other advertiser.
