3. I don't know. I know that Best Buy has a ridiculous deal for a washer & dryer

Only four per store but the price for the pair was super low, and those things are expensive. I suppose if you need a new washing machine and dryer and can get a decent set for hundreds of dollars off, someone might figure it is worth the wait to get the item. After all, if you truly are getting something that you need for real savings of hundreds of dollars off, then you could look at what it is costing you per hour to wait. I mean people work all night for mininum wage and would make far less then what a person could potentially save.

I could only see it for a item of need at a exceptional savings (and if the savings were real and not some shell game).

6. Precisely. The illusion of deals.
People will more likely spend more to feel good about themselves.

5. What's sad? Their doorbuster deals went live online a couple hours ago.
At least here they did. IOW, that $999 superduperdeluxe tv? I can get that from the warmth of my living room right now, while they're waiting in the cold. For 4 days. Seriously.

7. My Best Buy had a tent city setup Wednesday afternoon.
Such a sad statement on our consumer culture.
