I'm guessing Adam Lambert went to the "Madonna School of Self-Promtion'
Still don't think he has much talented. But one borderline softcore porn performance on primetime TV in front of Mom, Pop & the kids sure is a good way to promote the new album. Kinda like when Madonna rolled around on the floor in a wedding dress showing off her undies and singing "Like a Virgin" 20 years ago.

Of course when Madonna did it - she was being original.....

1. It is part genius on his part.
By putting his name in the headlines, he's managed to move beyond simple Idol-runner up status and likely oblivion in a few years.

I'm not a fan either, but hey, if that's what gets you recognized, I guess I can't blame him.

2. How can it be genius when the ploy has been used again and again
You don't think Elvis had a plan when he shook his pelvis on TV that first time

3. Naw, Adam can sing, Madonna can't carry a tune if it was chained to her...
...all she has is self-promotion, no talent whatsoever.

Famously, in fact.

13. You're not series, are you?
all recorded...and the only "live" time is when she's barely audible, because the pre-recorded is piped in to cover her screeching...ridiculous that so many people think this tart has any talent...

18. Not her recent one; the LIke A Virgin one
Sure, it was a long time ago, but your claim was that she never performs live.

Beyond that, so what? Why should a live vocal performance count as the be-all and end-all of a performer's worth? It's not as though Madonna has ever passed herself off as a singer first-and-foremost.

You've set an artificial standard that's intended to disqualify performers whose performances you don't like.

17. Madonna never needed to have singing as a strong quality
but she had alot of originality and promotion ability. And her songs are fun to dance to which is why I own all of her albums.

20. Madonna is a phenomenal dancer. I saw her in concert and she was
out-dancing her dancers. I don't care if her voice is computer enhanced onstage or in the studio.... I like her originality in all her productions. She's a great talent.

9. I wouldn't say it was "borderline softcore porn "
I found the performance forced...he was trying too hard to be shocking. I wasn't shocked. He said his goal in kissing another guy was to fight the double standard (girl/girl=good; guy/guy=bad). He does have a point because when Madonna and Britney kissed, everyone loved it and could stop talking about it. Two guys, wouldn't have had the same reaction.

14. I'm always amazed at what people are willing to spend money on
And the only reason why it works as a "promotion" is because people will talk about it--good, bad, ugly, or smart.

I'm so out of the loop, I didn't realize that he DIDN'T win AI.

The guy doesn't have nearly enough talent to warrant the attention he gets.

23. the music awards shows can usually count on something
sensationalist and controversial to happen that keeps people talking long after the broadcast (and hopefully gets more viewers next year hoping to see a trainwreck)...MTV's VMA first made an art of this back in the 90s, and who could forget that famous fight at the Source Awards?

The publicity-grabbing stunts kind of fell by the wayside after Madonna, but after we all saw Kanye get 2+ FULL weeks of near-global coverage, interviews, debates, etc. (after all the hand-wringing no one seemingly wanted to admit it was a brilliant stunt that both he and Taylor have reaped benefit from), every 'C' and lower celeb will be looking to make a national name for themselves at awards shows again...
