Ahh, alpenglow... (pics)

So me and a little glass of scotch just watched the nightly miracle that is the alpenglow off my back porch.

For you city-dwellers, alpenglow is what happens when you look at mountains to your east as the sun sets in the west, sending increasingly redder light to bounce off the snow.

It looked like this; sadly the camera isn't worthy of the task, but you'll get the idea, even through the power lines.

I miss mountains...and southern Georgia isn't big on mountains.

7. Neither is south Mississippi,

but north Georgia, where I'm from, has plenty. Not mighty peaks like the Rockies, but respectable mountains nevertheless: the southernmost extension of the Appalachians. It's such a beautiful area, and I miss it.

4. Amazingly enough...

some of us city dwellers have seen the alpenglow off of tall buildings.

(It was suggested, possibly by Trump, it then be called "Trumpenglow" but that's simply too revolting for words.)
