Are Ray Bans still cool?
I think so - but I am not much for changing something that works. I have been without good sunglasses for about 10 years - just living with the terrible ten dollar ones.
My last Ray Bans lasted for about eight years, and I loved them.
Maybe santa can bring me wayfarers.
What do you say?
What do put on your peepers?

6. Nice!
How sturdy are those frames - and are the lenses glass?

3. I don't know about cool
but they're the best. I've used them for motorcycling for years. Neutral density grey lenses that aren't too dark.

4. Absolutely!
I have 2 pair of sunglasses -- both Ray Bans. I have 1 pair of Wayfarers and the other are aviators. Both prescription. I have a third pair of RB as my regular glasses. They are CLASSICS and worth the $$

They must not be at the top of your list or you'd have them.
The Wayfarers are getting way up to the top of my list.

14. I love my Oakley Half Jackets
But I bought mine for durability, protection and "stayability" for when I'm mountainbiking or (yeah, someday again maybe) snowboarding. Their cool factor is just an addition. To me, any quality shades are cool, Ray Bans included.

20. I don't, no.
I like having just the two variants of sight. Uncovered and familiarly covered. I think that if I ever get to hit the snow, I'd probably swap out the lenses.

26. I'd love a pair of those in tortoiseshell..
With darker lenses, preferably polarized. I had a similar pair made by Hobie, which I loved. I accidentally dropped them and smashed one of the temples. The model had been discontinued long before that, so no replacement part available. My heart is still broken over the incident.

32. I think they have tortoise shell, but I'm not sure about darker lenses.
The lenses are a bit darker than they look right there, though.

Last I checked, they were running about $120.

24. Like most "classic" fashion items...
the "little black dress" or the classic-cut tuxedo for example, Ray-Ban Wayfarers never go out of style.

These will be my new glasses (clear glass lenses that will darken in the sun.) Not sure about the color yet.

27. Cool or not, I still wear my Wayfarers
My dear departed uncle gave them to me about 20 years ago--all I did was say I liked them, and he took them off and handed them to me. He was that kind of a guy.

My brother's puppy got hold of them over the summer and chewed one of the thingies that goes behind the ear (the little stinker) but I still wear them, rough plastic bits sticking up and all.

29. You should be able to get that part replaced.
I believe it's called the "temple." Since Ray Ban still makes Wayfarers, they should still have the parts for them. Most high-end sunglasses makers do. Or, you could sand down those rough bits with some really, really fine-grained sandpaper...

34. I love mine, but I'm not the fashion plate that I was in my 20s
However, I used to buy a lot of really cheap-o sunglasses, but they'd fall apart in a matter of days or weeks... so, I decided I needed to buy a good pair for once and got a nice pair of Ray Bans and they lasted me for almost 10 years. I figured that the rate I was going through $5-$10 pairs of sunglasses, I probably saved money in the long run.

And, one cheap pair was so bad that on the second day after I bought them, I was backing my car out of the school parking lot and jerked my head around, and my sunglasses went flying out the window and were, of course, broken. That was what finally inspired me to get a good pair.
