Best Alcohol Song Ever
Gogol Bordello "Alcohol"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ev0M2eGJC7M

Yeah o yeah you seen me walk
On burning bridges
Yeah o yeah you seen me fall
In love with witches
And you know my brain is held
Inside by stitches
Yet you know I did survive
All of your lovely sieges

And you know that I'll pick up
Every time you call
Just to thank you one more time
Alcohol
And you know that I'll survive
Every time you come
Just to thank you one more time
For everything you've done

Alcohol
Alcohol

And I'm sorry some of us
Given you bad name
yeah o yeah, cause without you
Nothing is the same
Yeah o yeah I miss you so
Every time we break up
Just to hit a higher note
Every time we make up

Who's crawlin' up my spine - alcohol
I've been waiting long long time - alcohol
Now you teach me how to rhyme - alcohol
Just don't stab me in the back with cartisol

Now we reunite - alcohol
And forever be divine - alcohol
Screw a light bulb in my head - alcohol
may that ceremony be happy or sad...

1. Beer by Asylum Street Spankers
You should skip ahead to 1:34 if you want to for go the intro

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvJGs6MhZM0

Speed is a drag it's a big big drag
Set your mind on fire make your organs sag.
Coke is a joke rather take a toke
Than be broken and a chokin' with your brain cells smokin'.
Tripping on acid makes you flacid
DMT too rich for me.
Heroin; aquarium; a nice brown box to bury in.
Marijuana makes me wanna eat candy and screw Madonna
With her hair bleached by peroxide
Huffin' on some Nitrous Oxide.

Well I've tried 'em all and it might sound queer
But my favorite drug is a nice cold beer.

Beer beer beer beer, beer beer beer beer, beer beer beer beer, we love beer.

I get thrills from pills but mostly chills from Robitussin and a bottle of Niquil.
Ecstacy's okay with me
On airplane glue you sneeze I chew.
Mohawk girl with a needle in her neck
Nervous wreck, can I call collect?
Nicotine is so obscene
And caffiene only makes me mean.
Huff a spray paint ain't so quaint
It gives you headaches and makes you faint.
Hash is a gas like a blast from the past
But tryin' to hunt it down is a pain in the ass.

Well I tried 'em all and it might sound queer
But my favorite drug is a nice cold beer.

Beer beer beer beer, beer beer beer beer, beer beer beer beer, we love beer.

*harmonica solo*

2. well...
I don't agree with the lyrics, but the music and flow is just wonderful.....and don't skip the intro, it is one of the best parts.

FYI...weed only made me want to fuck Madonna back in the early 90's........and hash isn't hard to find, you just have to know where to look

great song
thank you EndersDame

There stands the glass ...
That will ease all my pain ...
That will settle my brain ...
It's my first one to day ...
There stands the glass ...
That will hide all my tears ...
That will drown all my fears ...
Brother, I'm on my way. ... ...

CHORUS
I'm wond'ring where you are tonight
I'm wond'ring if you all right
I wonder if you think of me
In my mis-e-ry
There stands the glass
Fill it up to the brim
Till my troubles grow dim
It's my first one to day.

12. Bare Naked Ladies - "Alcohol"
Alcohol, my permanent accessory
Alcohol, a party-time necessity
Alchool, alternative to feeling like yourself
O Alcohol, I still drink to your health

I love you more than I did the week before
I discovered alcohol

Forget the caffe latte,
screw the raspberry iced tea
A Malibu and Coke for you, a G&T for me
Alcohol, Your songs resolve like
my life never will
When someone else is picking up the bill

I love you more than I did the week before
I discovered alcohol
O Alcohol, would you please forgive me?
For while I cannot love myself
I'll use something else

I thought that Alcohol was just for those with
nothing else to do
I thought that drinking just to get drunk
was a waste of precious booze
But now I know that there's a time
and there's a place where I can choose
To walk the fine line between
self-control and self-abuse

I love you more than I did the week before
I discovered alcohol
Would you please ignore that you
found me on the floor
Trying on your camisole?
O Alcohol, would you please forgive me?
For while I cannot love myself
I'll use something else

Would you please forgive me?
Would you please forgive me?

http://www.lyricsfreak.com/j/jimmy+buffett/why+dont+we+get+drunk_20071810.html

By: marvin gardens
1973
I really do appreciate the fact you're sittin here
Your voice sounds so wonderful
But yer face don't look too clear
So bar maid bring a pitcher, another round o brew
Honey, why don't we get drunk and screw

Chorus:
Why don't we get drunk and screw
I just bought a water bed, it's filled up for me and you
They say you are a snuff queen
Honey I don't think that's true
So, why don't we get drunk and screw

-- spoken: pick it coral reefers, here we go...

(swing instrumental)

Chorus:
Why don't we get drunk and screw
I just bought a waterbed it's filled up for me and you
They say you are a snuff queen
Honey I don't think that's true
So why don't we get drunk and screw
Yeah, now baby I say, (lord!)
Why don't we get drunk and screw

17. A couple of my favs from Dwight Yoakam
It Won't Hurt (Dwight Yoakam)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZMpaEqsuAA&feature=related

Chorus:
It won't hurt when I fall down from this bar stool
And it won't hurt when I stumble in the street
It won't hurt 'cause this whiskey eases misery
But even whiskey cannot ease your hurting me

Today I had another bout with sorrow
You know this time I almost won
If this bottle would just hold out 'til tomorrow
I know that I'd have sorrow on the run

Chorus:
It won't hurt when I fall down from this bar stool
And it won't hurt when I stumble in the street
It won't hurt 'cause this whiskey eases misery
But even whiskey cannot ease your hurting me

Your memory comes back up with each sunrise
I reach out for the bottle and find it's gone
Yeah, Lord, somewhere every night the whiskey leave me
To face this cold, cold world on my own

Chorus:
It won't hurt when I fall down from this bar stool
And it won't hurt when I stumble in the street
It won't hurt 'cause this whiskey eases misery
But even whiskey cannot ease your hurting They say this drinkin' will kill me
I don't know, oh Lord, it might be true
If I stop I'll just die from your leavin'
So either way that I go, it's 'cause of you

This Drinkin Will Kill Me (Dwight Yoakam)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-wwi89HcojI

Chorus:
Death can come from this broken heart
Or it can come from this bottle
So why prolong the agony
Hey, bartender, I think I'll hit the throttle

I don't care how the preacher might preach me
About the evils of being drunk with wine
I don't care how the doctor might warn me
'Cause since you left, it's just a matter of time

Chorus:
Death can come from this broken heart
Or it can come from this bottle
So why prolong the agony
Hey, bartender, I think I'll hit the throttle

I don't care that my friends have all left me
'Cause they swear that I have gone insane
And I don't care anymore about livin'
Without you, just the grave can ease the pain

Chorus:
Death can come from this broken heart
Or it can come from this bottle
So why prolong the agony
Hey, bartender, I think I'll hit the throttle

Yeah, they say this drinkin' will kill me
I don't know, oh Lord, it might be true
If I stop I'll just die from your leavin'
So either way that I go, it's 'cause of you
Yeah, either way that I go, it's 'cause of you
Oh, anyway that I go, it's 'cause of you

18. "Little Old Winedrinker Me" by Lefty Frizzell
I'm prayin' for rain in California
So the grapes can grow and they can make more wine
I'm sittin' in a honky in Chicago
With a broken heart and a woman on my mind

I ask the man behind the bar for the jukebox
And the music takes me back to Tennessee
And when they ask who's that fool in the corner, cryin'
I say "little old winedrinker me."

21. Brad Paisley "Alcohol
I can make anybody pretty
I can make you believe any lie
I can make you pick a fight
With somebody twice your size

I been known to cause a few break ups
I been known to cause a few births
I can make you new friends
Or get you fired from Work

<1st Chorus>
And since the day I left Milwaukee
Lynchburg and Bordeaux France
Been making the bars lots of big money
And helping white people dance
I got you in trouble in high school
But college, now that was a ball
You had some of the best times
You'll never remember with me
Alcohol
Alcohol

I got blamed at your wedding reception
For your best man's embarrassing speech
And also for those
Naked pictures of you at the beach

I've influenced kings and world leaders
I helped Hemmingway write like he did
And I'll bet you a drink or two that I can make you
Put that lampshade on your head

<2nd Chorus>
'Cause since the day I left Milwaukee
Lynchburg and Bordeaux France
Been making a fool out of folks just like you
And helping white people dance
I'm medicine and I am poison
I can help you up or make you fall
You had some of the best times
You'll never remember with me
Alcohol

The King is Gone (so are you)
George Jones - The king is gone (so are you)

Last night I broke the seal on a Jim Beam decanter
That looks like Elvis
I soaked the label off a Flintstone Jelly Bean jar
I cleared us off a place on that
One little table that you left us
And pulled me up a big ole piece of floor

I pulled the head off Elvis
Filled Fred up to his pelvis
Yabba Dabba Doo, the King is gone
And so are you

'Round about ten we all got to talking
'Bout Graceland, Bedrock and such
The conversation finally turned to women
But they said they didn't get around too much
Elvis said, "Find 'em young"
And Fred said "Old Fashioned girls are fun"
Yabba Dabba Doo, the King is gone
And so are you

Later on it finally hit me
That you wouldn't be 'a comin' home no more
'Cause this time I know you won't forgive me
Like all of them other times before
Then I broke Elvis's nose
Pouring the last drop from his toes
Yabba Dabba Doo, the King is gone
And so are you
Yabba Dabba Doo, the King is gone
And so are you

Last night I broke the seal on a Jim Beam decanter
That looks like Elvis
I soaked the label off a Flintstone Jelly Bean jar....

26. "Arrested For Driving While Blind" - ZZ Top
A hidden gem from 1976. Uses humor rather than sanctimony to take a dig at drunk driving.

"Arrested For Driving While Blind"

When you’re driving down the highway at night
And you’re feelin’ that Wild Turkey’s bite
Don’t give Johnny Walker a ride
'Cause Jack Black is right by your side
You might get taken to the jailhouse and find
You’ve been arrested for driving while blind

Now just the other night with nothin’ to do
We broke a case of proof 102
And started itchin’ for that wonderful feel
Of rollin’ in an automobile
You could say we was out of our mind
And let me tell you we were flyin’ while blind

Then they had us up against the wall
Hey it’s only blood grain alcohol
And there ain’t no 'cause for alarm
We ain’t out to do nobody no harm
How could anyone be so unkind
To arrest a man for drivin’ while blind

28. I'm partial to Jazz Butcher Conspiracy's DRINK...
Besides- it's got a trombone solo. How cool is THAT?

I'm broken-hearted
With all that this entails
It takes some concentrated drinking
To keep me on the rails
I have to hide my face
I have to hide my shame
I don't wait 'til I'm sober
'Til I get drunk again
I drink at home
I drink out
I drink in cocktail bars
Falling down
Seeing stars
It suits me
It suits me
Going astray
In all the bars from here to Mandalay
They never close
We never pay
Chorus:

My oh my
We can't compete
It's only heavy drinking that keeps us on our feet
My oh my
I can't complain
If it weren't for heavy drinking
We'd never play Sweet Jane (Reed)
My my my, oh my
The days go by
I never quite forget her
But goodness how I try
Believe me
Believe me
Falling apart in bars
I like to suffer for my art
Just one more before we part

Don't want to think
About how much I drink
It's a habit that's out of control
Hope I never get dry before I get old.

Trombone (trombone solo)

Chorus

Don't want to think
About how much I drink
It's a habit that's out of control
Hope I never get dry (before you get)
Hope I never get dry now (before you get)
Hope I never get dry before I get old... mmmmm... mmmm

31. Midnight Choir by the Gatlins (Mogen David)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-d4SZvUlb4

The doors to the mission open at seven
And the soup will be ready about nine
Right now it's six-thirty, they're ragged and dirty
They're standin' and sittin' and layin' in line

First they'll do a little singin', then hear a little preachin'
And get saved for the 3rd time this week
A bowl of soup later and a pat on the shoulder
And by midnight, they're back on the street

They walk to the corner of 4th street and Broadway
Then take the first alley on the right
One of them asks a stranger, "How 'bout a hand"?
And he gives 'em one finger at a time

Then they spot an old buddy with a bottle of heaven
Then pass around what means everything
One bottle for four, thank God, someone scored
And now the midnight choir starts to sing

Will they have Mogen David in Heaven?
Dear Lord, we'd all like to know
Will they have Mogen David in Heaven, sweet Jesus?
If they don't, who the hell wants to go?

Will they have Mogen David in Heaven?
Dear Lord, we'd all like to know
Will they have Mogen David in Heaven, sweet Jesus?
If they don't, who the hell wants to go?
If they don't, who the hell wants to go, dear good God?

Will they have Mogen David in Heaven?
Dear Lord, we'd all like to know
Will they have Mogen David in Heaven, sweet Jesus?
If they don't, who the hell wants to go?

"The Have Nots"...X...lyrics
Drink at the Bar Nothing bar anything
But the bottom step of the ladder
It keeps gettin' higher and higher

Dawn comes soon enough for the working class
It keeps getting sooner or later
This is the game that moves as you play
How does it feel to have your own bottle of booze
Behind the bar how does it feel
To play cards with the barmaids while they work
At Jocko's Rocket Ship and the One Eyed Jack
My Sin and The Lucky Star
A steady place to study and drink

Day old days
Ancient bloody mary bastards in a hard-
Core blue collar bar
Here we sit
A shot and a beer
After another hard earned day

At the Hi-D-Hi and the Hula Gal
Beehive Bar and the Zircon Lounge
G.G.'s Cozy Corner, The Gift of Love
Stop 'N' Drink, Sit 'N' Sip, Rest 'N Pieces
Dexter's New Approach and The Get Down Lounge
The Aorta Bar, Detroit's Main Vein...

One of my favorite songs...ever...
