it's entertainment
not real life
it was fast paced
and I CARED about a few of the characters
and was really upset about the outcome of one of them
I loved this movie......

for get reality for 2 hours and 15 minutes......
YES let your mind go and :wait: HAVE A GOOD TIME!!!!

don't go to the movies at all if all your going to do is analyze and trash......

I do not care if you have a BS in arts and science
or nutrition....

just let it go.....

and you might have a good time....

really tired of the tight asses here that think an action packed... FUN movies sucks because it doesn't conform to their thinking......... or "intellect" what ever that is.....

2. Because too many of them take themselves too seriously.
If you're going to make a disaster movie, make it campy. Otherwise I will tear it apart.
At the same time, I don't like disaster movies because I am easily swayed by the emotional factor, i.e., the terror, grief, tears and so on. And then I'm critical of the genre when they only give lip-service to such emotions, unless they're being campy ;)

I have no interest in vampires, werewolves, undead zombies (other than the Evil Dead), or whatever other horror of the month is out and hot. So, I won't be seeing them, either.

I would have loved to have seen Miyazaki's Ponyo, but never could get the scheduling synced with a friend of mine. So, I'll have to wait until it's on DVD. At least I did get to see one of the Harry Potter movies in the theater for once ;)

3. I am with you 99%.........
It's A FUCKIN' MOVIE(fiction.) we have taken a break from "reality" whatever the fuck that means. We have "created" a "new reality" that this movie exists in. The events, charters, even the LAWS OF PHYSICS can be null & void in this "reality."

ITS A FUCKIN' MOVIE!

just enjoy it. or don't

Either way don't bitch about how "unrealistic" (whatever that means) it is. If it was real, you would see it on MSNBC:rofl:

the 1% I don't agree with you is this: Fuck the Giants!

4. I think because people are so used to leaving their mind at the door in GD
that they go to the movies to escape mindless fantasy.

5. I just care if it's well written, acted, and directed.
I get way more reality than I need nine to five. :)

6. How about a genuine sense of wonder? Emphasis on character?
Jaws? Close Encounters? Raiders of the Lost Ark? The Lord of the Rings? Batman Begins and the Dark Knight? Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars, and the Empire Strikes Back?

7. Thank you!
You put it more succinctly than I was contemplating for another reply. Basically, if you go into any form of entertainment with the mindset that "it's only a story/movie/cartoon" then you have already defeated that which would suck you into the story. No more sense of awe or wonder. No caring about characters at all, because "it's just a movie." :eyes:

I've got nothing against action movies. Or escapist entertainment. But that doesn't mean that all escapist/action movies are equally good.
