Part of my new job is to know how to build a tire. I finally have been judged competent to build one. I will not be doing it on a regular basis, I have great respect for the workers that do it for 12 hours a day and pump out 300+ tires.
I have met people who thought we just poured some rubber in a mold and out pops a tire?
One more 12 hour shift on Sunday and I will enjoy a couple of days rest!
Two on, two off. Every other weekend is a three day thing, either working or off. I can honestly say that I wouldn't hesitate to ride on any tire produced at our plant. (I do)
The tire builders take pride in what they produce and scrap is tracked by upc code. You really can't survive as a tire builder if you build crap.
