2. Thanks!
I'm trying to think positively... or I am resigned to my demise-by-air travel. One way or another, I have to play mental gymnastics in order to convince myself that it's "not that bad."

3. I prefer to fly IN the airplane
Messing up the aerodynamics of the control
surfaces would ruin a lot of folk's day.

4. I feel for ya...
Last time I flew, I made the mistake of lighting up a cigarette while walking outside between terminals.

I was swarmed on by about 5 TSA guys yelling their stupid heads off.

I thought they were going to de-nut me.

Seriously, once the plane is moving, the hard part is over.

You'll do fine.

Enjoy your flight.

Seriously - I wish I approached such things differently. I've dreaded flying since I was a pre-teen.

18. Thank you, my dear Pool Hall Ace!
I was extremely lucky.

I was on the correct side of the airplane, and it was on the correct side of the mountain...

If any of those factors hadn't existed, this picture (and several others) would not have happened...

It was a little jet too.....didn't fly at the normal 30,000 feet.

It was truly a lucky shot!

14. Jokes aside, I agree with Peggy
Air travel is by far the safest method of
transportation. Just get a window seat, sit
back and enjoy the view. You'll be fine.

24. My wife flies on Monday
for a month with my parents

She's not thrilled with flying (well, specifically takeoffs and landings bother her) - and a month with the in-laws isn't exactly something she's looking forward to.

She's going to help my dad paint their house - in exchange, we'll get some cash, plus some money off what we owe them for the down payment on our house.

My parents are pretty cool, but a month with anyone's family (sometimes even your own) is a bit much :D

26. Flying is fun. Getting to go is fun. Enjoying the voyage is fun. Meeting
people and talking to people on the plane is fun.
Flying is 100 times safer than riding in the car. That means you will be killed in a car accident 100 times, before you once are killed in a plane crash.
If you are in a plane crash your odds of surviving are better than 50 50. Yes, more than half the people survive a plane crash.
Just sit back and enjoy the ride.

But I'm doing a half and half trip - half plane, half car. I'm half-gambling, I guess. ;)

37. Smuggle in some Lysol
and scrub down the seat. I've heard horror stories
about seat cooties. I don't mind flying like from
here to Vegas, but I hate flying any longer than that.
My 22 hour flight was torture.

Thanks

42. Flying is quite the thing, isn't it?
Here we are, moping and complaining about, as if it has become some kind of chore. Of course, it can be like that, I understand, but it is also a truly amazing experience when you really get down to it. You are flying, FLYING, about 30,000 feet in the sky. I remember flying from London back to the states and from out my window, I could see the ice caps, I think it was Greenland. It was such an incredible sight, and to think about 100 years ago, seeing such a thing from such heights would have been the thing of dreams.
