Belief in Santa Claus--I was seriously pissed off when I found out Santa Claus wasn't real.

Was a lie, in fact. I felt betrayed. I vowed I'd NEVER tell my kids such a lie. And I haven't. My cat is 11 1/2 years old and I have never told her lies about Santa Claus.

I think a person's reaction to that have to do with the total family dynamics. In my family of origin, there wasn't much basic trust, so I think it came across as another lie.

P.S. If you believed in Santa Claus, and I have destroyed your belief, I sincerely apologize.

4. my daughter is 6 1/2 and still believes in Santa
Though, I might try to ease her into the idea of Santa not being real after this Christmas. She'll figure it out eventually, but I think it will help if I drop a few hints for her down the road.

6. My realization in learning it was all made up: ...
...anyone can lie to you. Maybe an atypical response, but that's how I felt about it.

7. My daughter found out in Kindergarten from one of her big mouthed classmates.
She was crushed, and pissed at us for lying to her.

8. Nooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!

Seriously, I remember getting wise to the whole thing when I noticed the glitter that was on the wrap of the presents "Santa" got me on my parent's bed and my mom coming up with some excuse as to why it was there.

I never took it as them lying to me (even though I guess that's what it technically was). I just figured they wanted me to have a bit of magic and fantasy in my little life before I got older and reality had to set in.
