Watching The Great Escape for the brazillianth time
It's on a local independent channel right now. My favorite line is from James Garner referring to Donald Pleasence's character: "Colin's not a blind man as long as he's with me. And he's going with me!"

Trivia: When Donald Pleasence offered some advice on a particular scene to (director) John Sturges, he was told to keep his "opinions" to himself. Later, when another star from the film informed John Sturges that Pleasence had actually been a RAF Officer in a World War II German POW Stalag camp, Sturges requested his technical advice and input on historical accuracy from that point forward.

1. GREAT movie!
As most of us know, directors/bosses can OFTEN be real jerks!!!!

2. I love that movie
Whenever I watch I still believe Steve McQueen can make it over that barbed wire fence.

6. SPOILER ALERT!!!
Dammit, why don't you warn a guy?! I was JUST GOING to watch that movie.

Kidding -- seen it a million times, and I agree: There's always part of me that thinks THIS TIME he's going to make it.

4. You must be watching THIStv
They have been running that one semi-regularly lately. It's a great film! They also show "Mr. Ed" every morning. I had forgotten what a hoot that show was. Gotta wonder what the writers were smoking when they came up with some of those story lines. There were a number of TV shows out of the 60s and early-70s that I swear were created and written under the influence. ;-)

17. THIS tv also has Sea Hunt
It was so cool when I was a kid but today it is totally camp, yet I'll stay up way past my bedtime just to catch 30 minutes of Mike Nelson. The one common theme we learn in every adventure is: twin tanks good - single tank BAD.

That's a 1961 Triumph TR6 Trophy, which was extremely rare in 1944 Germany. :)

I still haven't seen Sand Pebbles and Nevada Smith all the way through. Are they any good?

15. Sand Pebbles is rough.
Great movie, though.

Nevada Smith, on the other hand, was a character in a very racy book I read before I was old enough to read very racy books, and I think as a result I'm too ashamed to see the movie. Weird, huh.

19. One of my favorites.
Love the 4th of July party with the moonshine

Hilts, "Don't get any on your clothes, don't smoke."

Ramsey, Bartlett and MacDonald, after taking their first sip, all look like they've been smacked in the head with a cricket bat.

Ramsey, "That is the most extraordinary thing I've ever tasted."

MacDonald (true to his heritage), "I rather like it."

21. SO awesome. But the ending makes me cry.
When Donald Pleasance's character is all, "Are we there yet? Are we there?" And they tell him yes. WAAAAAAHHHH!
