This is a busy season for people who cut hair.
I needed a haircut today, and the young woman who was cutting my hair started telling me about her personal experiences with a customer. She and I are complete strangers. I don't know why some people are so open with complete strangers, but there it is. She told me that a customer snapped when she persisted in a line of questioning about marriage and kids. Here is a snippet of that interaction....

"Do you think that he was rude? Do you think that he was out of line?"

"Yes and yes" .....

uncomfortable silence as she reaches for the scissors.....

"Ever think that maybe he wasn't rude?"

"Nope...oh, take up the sideburns about a half-inch please"

"Sure.....so, you're absolutely sure that he was rude?"

"Yes, his style of interaction is just not for me....you're taking a bit too much off the front there" (at this point, she was doing what I initially told her not to do ).

"Oh...sorry...do you want me to just blend it in"?

"Yeah...that's fine"

Then she asked me this: "So why are you certain that he was rude? Have you just never met a polite person who had his style of interaction?"

I snapped .....so sue me....I SNAPPED AND TOLD HER STOP ASKING QUESTIONS THAT ARE NONE OF HER DAMNED BUSINESS and just finish the damned cut!
